Sant Ambroeus New York Reviews from The Last Year
Very good, very expensive.
If you have someone else's credit card, this place has elevated service beyond your high end bistro, it's close to fine dining. The dishes are sold, beautifully presented. We had the fish (filleted for the guest perfectly) the chicken (a little salty) and pasta, all excellent. Wine list is epic, some good reasonable bottles, I always check via Vivino app. This place is a treat, the dining area in the rear is bigger and nicer than you would imagine so walk in.

I was super rushed to order; 4 waiters kept asking if i was ready to order, after I asked to have a minute becaue I just sat down. The service was disappointing and handful of waiters pressuring to order after only being seated for 3 minutes. Also, they made my food incorrect and brought out the wrong item, after I notified them I was a vegetarian they brought out a meat item. Horrible experience and extremely disappointed !!!! Can you allow a person 5 mina to get settled and actually look at the menu before interrupting the. 15 time to order ????!!! lost a loyal customer!!!!!
One of my favorite spots in NYC.
Now so many locations to choose from and each as charming as the next.
Unfortunately this lovely looking placed missed the mark
Unfortunately this lovely looking placed missed the mark widely during a mid afternoon visit on a Thursday. We did not have reservations but were seated promptly by a very professional woman, in their outdoor area. It took a bit of time for a waiter to come by, but the main restaurant was crowded. The recurring issue was inattentiveness. We asked for a lime wedge with our $12 bottle of water, 3 times, never received. We accepted an offer of bread while we waited and it was not received until after the entrees were received. The water glass had a wet dog smell to it. Our entrees were a simple fettuccine which was good but at $27 it was a very small serving for pasta. The Saffron Risotto, @$47 looked gorgeous but the rice was not adequately cooked and was crunchy. The main complaint was an inability to tell anyone about this. No one checked on us to see if all was ok. And we had to flag down a bus boy to get our check. All in all, for the price, we will not return.
I've eaten at several St.
Ambroeus in the last 2 weeks including the original in Milano; the West Village, Lafayette St., and Brookfield-WTC. I haven't been to Casa Lever in forever unfortunately. This Madison Ave location is top notch, in every respect. West Village is great too. Milano is superb. This is just a great brand. The food is better here in the US, surprisingly but you just can't go wrong with St. Ambroeus . My only criticism is that they don't open early enough in the morning because they have the best coffee blend in NYC! Perhaps another criticism is that my omelette this morning was massive. They were being very generous today.... Did I eat it all? Yes, it would be a crime to leave a morsel uneaten. I wish there were more St. Ambroeus restaurants in the world

Did not disappoint
We had the pleasure of visiting the Milan location in October and were excited to dine at the flagship Madison Ave location on this trip to NY. The food and servive did not disappoint. Mira was attentive and knowledgeable, and when she had been pulled away, her maganer was sure to come over to attend to our needs in seemless transition. The seafood risotto was the best ever, al dente and great variety and quality of seafood was our starter - large enough for 2-3 to share as an appetizer. we had the veal milanese and scaloppini with spinach in picatta sauce and both were excellent. Dessert was a fruit tart and chocolate gelato (all we had room for) and cookies to go of course. Saint Ambroeus Madison Did not disappoint.

The food was priced high for what you get, but the ambiance Is very nice. The service was mediocre, especially for the price of everything.

Enjoyed a family celebratory lunch for our daughter's college graduation. Reservations are a must. Service was top notch. Menu was a small and portion size was just right and the presentation was on point. We all had a lovely dinner together.

I have been to Sant Ambroeus numerous times for their amazing coffee. However, I recently celebrated my birthday and got a couple of really adorable little cake slices, fruit, etc. Let me tell you. Their desserts are PHENOMENAL (and this is coming from someone doesn't generally have a sweet tooth). The only downside is it's a little pricey but I still highly recommend swinging by for a coffee and a sweet treat next time you're on the UES!

I ordered ossobuco and the fresh artichoke salad with arugula and cheese. The ossobuco was big with a big bone marrow! It also had gramolata on top of the bone marrow. I had to ask for a bone marrow spoon to scoop it out. The risotto that paired it was just enough and the sauce was excellent. Better than my making it at home. I thought I would bring home left over. I was wrong. I ate it all up! On my way out I bought my favorite cookies. I love the one that's like light chocolate meringue (but it is not) with hazelnuts.

We got the Sant Ambroeus chocolate cake and flourless chocolate cake. They both were excellent and very rich and chocolate. The service is excellent and ambience is very clean and orderly. This is one of my favorite coffee and dessert shops in New York City, I will come back again.

While the food was very good, the service we received was not. My friends & I came in looking for a nice lunch & drinks. When getting seated they grabbed us a drink menu then looked back at us & put it back. Upon being seated we asked for a drink menu. We were then told that the manager thinks we look way too young & needed to check our IDs before even giving us the menu. We are 23 so I totally understand needed IDs to be checked but the way it was dealt with made us very uncomfortable. We felt very judged, were constantly being stared at, & were unable to even enjoy our meal & drinks after. I have never been treated this way at a restaurant before. Usually you get a drink menu, order the drink, & then they check your IDs; not make a whole production out of it. It was very unprofessional & uncomfortable.

This restaurant is a few blocks from the Met and well worth the steps. High quality plates with attentive service. This was some of the best Italian food I've had in New York.
Everything you order is excellent I have eaten at Sant
Everything you order is excellent I have eaten at Sant Ambroeus for over thirty years once a week. I never had any issues with the food except praise for outstanding quality cooked with finesse done by experts with pride in the one of the finest Italian restaurants. Light and delightful classic Italian cuisine cooked to perfection to nourish and leave you with a smile even though its cost is expensive but worth it. Go and enjoy the wonderful food and enjoy the glamorous UES chic crowd.
To cut a long story short, we fell in love with Spaghetti
To cut a long story short, we fell in love with Spaghetti Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino. The olive oil was distinctly infused with garlic flavor that permeated into every strand of spaghetti- then there was just the right savory of saltiness. Every forkful was a moment of bliss. I was grateful to have a daughter who was just as happy to share her dish, and equally eager to try mine. I got the Lasagna Verde. It was bountiful and fulfilling, but that Spaghetti Aglio was on a different level. To finish off, the Millefoglie was a good choice. The cream was divine, but the layers of puff pastry was a bit tricky to tackle. But still, so scrumptious! Lastly, applause to such well trained wait staff. From the maitre d, to our main server and the back waiter. Just like the vibe of Sant Ambroeus, they seemed to carry a subtle whiff of elegance.

Good food was always, good vibes also, but sometimes when it gets too crowded, service was downgraded, Got some bad attitude from the front desk when we arrived on a weekly and brunch time. But will come back for the food, coffee also pretty good.
A sophisticated Italian restaurant with outstanding service.
Excellent little Upper East Side gem. Perfect for after museum visits. Make a reservation as it is very well subscribed. Food, service and environment were all excellent.

Ordered their cacio e pepe and it was delicious! The servers were kind and the overall atmosphere inside was beautiful. I would recommend visiting if you're in the UES looking for an Italian spot
Went for brunch, Jan 21.
We hoped that 2:30 would be late enough to thin out the crowd, but the place was packed and noisy. They added a chair to a cozy table for two to make an even "cozier" table for three. My seat was stuck in the walkway, but it was ok. My chair was not bumped into at all during our meal. The service is refined but a bit overwhelmed by how busy they are. I might consider going back for dinner some time, just to see what the pace is like at a later, more refined hour. But even as frenetic as the brunch hour was, the service rose above it all. The let-down was the food. Our guest's lasagne was ok but nothing to go back for. My wife's spaghetti was cooked perfectly but the marinara was boring. It begged for flavor. My omelet's ingredients were sparse. I expected the mozzarella to be hot, melty and stringy. But if it was there at all, it was well-disguised in the eggs. Overall, the quaint ambience and sparkly service made the meal. And while our food was a bit of a let down, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't great. But I would certainly give them a try for dinner.
This is one of the see and be seen Restaurants in New York
This is one of the see and be seen Restaurants in New York City. It's been around for many years with an Italian influence. It has the most amazing visual and tasty desserts you've ever had. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and I believe brunch on the weekends. Everything is made there. The ambience is beautiful. The food is delicious and visually prepared perfectly. and I must say the coffee is the best I've ever had. Be prepared to pay because this restaurant is very expensive. Definitely $$$$. but everything you put in your mouth will make your tongue dance! The outside tables are enclosed like a little square igloo they're warm and you get blankets and it's really quite wonderful. I think a great place to be on a snowy day. Of course, it's always bustling with old money New Yorkers, and young adults that have literally grown up on their food. You can also see lots of celebrities often dining there. Like Bobby De Niro, Mick Jagger, and Al Pacino. The one thing I love is, it has real New Yorkers regularly coming in to eat good food in a beautiful atmosphere . If you are visiting New York, this is a place you must try!!!. If you can't get in, you can definitely sit at the coffee bar.
We made reservations for this restaurant to find out that
We made reservations for this restaurant to find out that this restaurant says is its Italian restaurant but when we arrived it was more French than Italian, we ordered a fish dinner served row. We sent it back and my sister orders something else my wife ordered a pizza it was a thin very thin pizza taste it nasty. We returned the pizza back and did not order anything else my wife was unhappy with the place. and the food. Also, we ordered calamari, and when they brought the order over it was fried asparagus with clam cake batter, not happy at all with this the servers we're very rude and obnoxious yeah they kept trying to get my sister and my wife to leave the table so they can serve other customers when we went to get our coats they also gave us other people's coats not ours then they ask us what type of costs that we have this was a miserable place to visit I do not recommend no one to go to this location if you decide to go to this location I prefer you to go to pizza hut. We also ordered a bottle of wine for $81, and it tastes so dry you couldn't even drink that but we force it down for $81 which you expect for this place I mean it should have been a good tasting wine to begin with everything set and done this was a lousy restaurant to visit never again and i do not recommend anyone to go to this location. I spent $364 to have a bad experience in my life at it will all be experience that everyone in the world has we tend to go out to have dinner to a place that we can remember and enjoy with our friends and family what a mistake it was for me to locate this restaurant on the website, and I'm lost for words.
Here's the thing.
This place is pricey but given its location that is to be expected. The cappuccinos are perfection. And somehow the water is even better here. You can't beat their espresso martinis. And the crowd is always great people watching. Be sure to grab a matchbook on your way out.
After 3 decades very disappointed
Been a fan and customer since 1994. Would visit 4-5 times per visit to Manhattan. However has become too touristic, expensive and food and service has suffered. $25 for a plate of parmesan cheese and salty olives! Too expensive. Cod over $90 and all other dishes too expensive and rushed to the table. Service okay but too crowded
Great Brunch
We had a great brunch. Service was great and food was incredible. Great breakfast foods. We had Crostino Milanese and pancakes. Both were great. Thanks for a great meal.
Remains an iconic place
This place remains iconic Great atmosphere Good food Good service Not cheap but glam A piece of Milano with a NY style
Would have loved to recommend…
Potentially an amazing brunch place but disappointed. We were seated immediately by a friendly host and the pastries were awesome but both my friend and I got eggshells in our scrambled eggs and eggs Benedict (how does that happen?). Table service was strangely off eg had to ask several times for sugar. Management adjusted our bill for one entree but was a real let down overall after high anticipation.
New York's Best Restaurants that are most frequently booked by customers of Sant Ambroeus New York
Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
