I was so blown away by Schwa.
My boyfriend took me here for my 30th birthday last month and just wow. Michelin star dining but not the stuffiness you expect when you think Michelin. The food was incredibly delicious and inventive. That banana pudding tea dish ... I'm obsessed . The dessert I spoke about for days afterward. Food was just 10/10, top notch. I'm still thinking about it...which is why a month later I am now writing my review . The atmosphere. Loved it as much as the food. Great hiphop music playing. You want to get up and dance. I was hoping schwa had a playlist on Spotify that I could go on. BYOB - loved that as well. Service was incredible. Everyone was so knowledgeable and explained what I was eating so well. It was my first Michelin experience. I'm sure it won't be my last but it certainly will not be one I forget. I hope I get to visit soon. And if anyone has a chance to visit ... please do!!!!
Very unassuming for a Michelin star restaurant.
It's BYOB. They play hip-hop music. Your sous chefs are also your servers. The chef takes shots with you. Don't expect a host stand. No coat stand or closet specially when you go during the winter in Chicago. Overall, food was really good. Very well thought out. You'll pay first in order to secure a reservation. After $250 (includes tax and tip), I still left feeling hungry.
Schwa was amazing, starting with that.
I'll say that there were a few apsects of dining there that I think could have been better, but I'll get there below.I'll go as far as saying that among the coursed (price fixe) dinners - They had the best actual-tasting food. Some places you get a course and think "that was new, unique, and I enjoyed it.. but I'm not really sure I'd have a whole plate of it" .. Schwa was: "this tastes awesome, gimme more!"For service: I mean it was as expected, which is precise and great. They matched the personality of our table (as I observed the differences between other tables), they spaced the courses perfectly. We had several visits from the head chef, and each servers instructions were fun and unique. Food: I won't go 1 by 1, I'll try to be concise (not easy to be short though haha) 1. I loved this - so you get an oyster, but instead of slurping it down its on a fried tortilla of sorts, so you nibble it. BUT THEN, the next course was this incredible ravioli and that was instructed to slurp down (like an oyster). Really creative spin. 2. We had a fried fish that also came with some other type of fish - thinking I'd not like it and the looks were deceiving (no idea what it was called). Yummm it was just the perfect crispy fried texture. 3. Even the caviar was so good, and i don't like caviar. It was mixed with sweet jam. Basically the aspect of sweets they mixed into several courses were new to this type of dining, and again super creative. ..If there was any dish I would put at the bottom, maybe the beef. It was still great, but kind of just standard steak to me.Here is where I'll throw some thoughts:Is it worth $200 a person? To me yes. However the overall meal was (1) just under 2 hours, and seemed somewhat short. (2) Some vibe or character of the experience seemed lacking, can't put a finger on it, but just seemed like it started, ended, and we left. There needed to be more. (3) I wish it was a full restaurant and more of a 'production', as opposed to our quiet and solo table. Again can't put a finger on it, just missing something within the realm of "show" on top of the courses themselves. All in all it was incredible and I'd love to go back. BYOB is a huge factor as well.
Food was very good.
Quail and wagyu were the best! Good music, a lot of 90s-00s rap which seemed odd for a restaurant like this. Service was great they explain each dish like most multi course meals. BYOB!!! We brought a bottle of red and white to try with different dishes and the waiter recommended which fit each dish. Expensive but worth it, great for a date!
My husband and I have been to Schwa several times.
For a while the dishes were a bit salty but still very good. We went last night and, my god, they have it dialed in PERFECTLY!! Even single course was just outstanding! Can't wait to go back yet again.
Disappointed!
Not what I expected. The food was decent, however it didn’t WOW me. The service was subpar and the cleanliness of the establishment was questionable. Not star worthy.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
