My friend and I booked this restaurant for our last night in NYC and were looking forward to it. As tourists, we got a little confused with the subway system and arrived no more than 3 minutes after the grace period the restaurant provides. The woman on the front desk was very blunt in telling us we were late and missed our booking and that there was no possibility of a table being available for us. I questioned that she had given the table away within 3 minutes and also stated that I recieved a text from the restaurant asking if we were on the way and I replied that I was. She said that the text doesn't go to the restaurant and was unable to answer when I asked what the point of the text was.
Whilst I understand we were running a little late, I had let the restaurant know we were on our way so there was no reason to give our table away, and I also don't believe the table had been given away within 3 minutes. If she had shown any remorse or tried to be accommodating for us then perhaps my view would be different, but if you want good customer service I'd recommend going elsewhere.

Cocktails are amazing here!! The food was good but not exceptional. It's Italian food but more like novelty Italian food with pasta drenched in red sauce. The place was packed and without a reservation, you have to wait a bit at the bar to see if someone leaves so you can grab their table. Service is amazing! The drinks arrived quickly but the food took time. It's okay. Just keep drinking.

The food was underwhelming which was expected based on the reviews. We went for the atmosphere which was gorgeous. My mom and I had the BEST drink of our lives here, the Myrtle Breeze. It was amazing and we cannot stop talking about it. We will definitely be back for that!

Would I come back to this place? No.
Why you might ask. I believe this restaurant boosts their prices because of the decor. I went during winter time so I was able to experience the winter menu. $70 for gnocchi? Would never pay that price. I got the fried rice balls and the stuffed shells. They give very little portions for an extreme price. For someone to eat here you need to have a certain taste or pallet. This place is really good for instagram pictures and VSCO pictures. If you don't have a reservation they won't even let you step foot into the elevator to go upstairs. Certain people might say it is good but I wouldn't come back here. To get here, you have to walk through an Italian supermarket which is very odd. I had to ask the supermarket workers how to get to this restaurant. Very awkward. On the hand though after I was done eating, when I was leaving I got an authentic Italian Hazelnut Donut downstairs and it was phenomenal.
A really great place to eat, drink, and relax. Great ambiance. We really enjoyed our evening, very cool.

First time coming to Serra by Birreria and it did not disappoint! I brought my mom and aunt and they loved the decor and atmosphere of the space. Tasting menu was fantastic and the staff was delightful!

New Yorker here- honestly worst service experience I've had in the city. The server was inattentive, combative when we asked questions about the wine, and then disappeared. We had to ask 3 separate people for our bill. We were never offered bread or dessert. Our bartender while we were waiting for our table was amazing though!

Pros: Serra is a beautiful spot.
The whole restaurant is thoughtfully decorated and the overall vibe of the restaurant is comfortable. The staff was also amazing Cons: The food for the price isn't worth it. Our party of 4 spent almost $100 for two dishes and no drinks. On the surface that's not that bad but the food was bland. Italian food usually is exploding with flavor and the dishes were far from that. They weren't horrible but also not worth the price. As a tourist who had food from the little Italy area of NY the night before that was amazing I expected a restaurant such as Serra to have dishes that compared to smaller Ma and Pa shops.

*I was debating giving the review a 2 star but thanks to the service I gave it a 3 star*By the mixed reviews given to the establishment I wasn't that keen on going to Serra by Birreria. However, thanks to the hype of the look of the restaurant that pushed us to go and check out the ambiance. The restaurant was a beautiful breathe of fresh air. It reminded me of my previous travels in Italy as the appearance showcased the pure authenticity of Italian dining. However comparing to other Italian restaurants in the city, I did not appreciate the limited menu. I understand "EATALY" has many establishments and various menus however I would've appreciated some more depth in their options. The food was not good unfortunately, the dishes we chose lacked flavor. The food were prepared in such a manner that a adolescent could've made it. By these comments sounds like I should have given the review a 2, however a restaurant should not only be judged by the food alone, especially when it comes to Serra by Birreria. I know they have seasonal menus, so I assume we dined in during a "bad season". The service should be applauded, in terms of how "ready" they were to take care of the customer. I dropped a knife and in a second they came to replace it without myself having to ask. Many waiters came to take and provide our order. They were quick and sufficient in how they operated. I believe the establishment should look into the reviews, as they all seem they want the restaurant to succeed however the seasonal food has been the main issue.
🙂
This is the rooftop inside of Eataly.
It is so pretty! The flowers everywhere and decor is magically. Great place to get cute pictures. When we arrived we were seated immediately. There was a happy hour event going on in the bar area. Would be a great spot to host an event. It was pretty loud because the rooftop. Our waiter was fine. Average service. The food was fine, average food. Love that you have the option to create your own drinks with cute names. Thought that was very unique, I haven't seen that anywhere. I would come back for happy hour or to try brunch. Pros: drinks & atmosphere Cons: loud, crowded, average food

Went for the vibes and the butternut squash ravioli, but when we got there their "pasta cooker" was broken? We let our server know we were basically only there for the pasta so he gave us status updates and let us know immediately when it was fixed. All in all it was good, but portion size was a little small for the price. We had to order more just to be satiated, but I guess that's the point. Decorations were nice, but obviously better in pictures than in reality.
🤮
Not impressed with this place at all, unfortunately.
I brought my sister here for her 18th birthday and the experience was lacking and I'm disappointed. She deserved better, Have eaten way better food in NY for half the price. The service was lacking. The employee who handled our water and refills provided us with more service than the actual server did. Our server only came by once and that was to take our order. We had to ask someone else for the check. I assumed he was busy but noticed he spent more time with all the other tables and could have cared less about us even though we were so kind and ordered a large amount of food. We asked for bread and he brought us $10 bread instead of mentioning that they actually serve FREE BREAD. I realized this after looking at all the other tables. That is sneaky. What was really upsetting is that he walked past our table (with no words) and just grabbed our HALF eaten bread off the table without even asking if we were done. We were not and that's basically $5 in the trash right there. So rude.Lastly, we ordered the tiramisu and it was tiny and came in the most inconvenient cup. Like, why have it curved at the bottom making it hard to get a good bite? Also, the cocoa powder was so thick and loose that it actually made us choke. So disappointed. My sisters birthday was a big deal and I expected so much more. We would have been better off at eating at Eatly downstairs.
😍
This enchanting restaurant is a must when in New York.
The ambiance alone is worth the stop in but the aft fully made food and drinks make this place an all around amazing restaurant. To get to the restaurant you must enter Eataly and head toward the back. You will then be instructed to take the elevator. Once getting off the elevator it's just up a small flight of stairs and into a magical world. The pasta was very fresh and made just downstairs. The drinks were creative and fun. Affogato at the end is a must!
😍

Great vibe/atmosphere/setting, good service, delicious food! What more can one ask for right? And oh, you can do some grocery shopping before or after enjoying your meal. The fam and I really like the Eataly concept as a whole. You can choose to pick up items to prepare at home, enjoy a quick meal at one of the many kiosks, or go "all in" by partaking a meal at Serra. We have never been disappointed with locations we have visited thus far: LA, LV, and NYC!
The atmosphere was ice. Even though it was a chilly February day, the natural light made the rooftop experience a mood enhancer.

We dragged our parents from Long Island to the city to have lunch here, and as much as I knew I'd enjoy it, they enjoyed it even more!! First off, our server was so gracious and she was excellent (I think her name was Sunny per my receipt). When you walk in, you're instantly cheered up with their bright white decor. They're currently still on their winter theme, and they change it seasonally I believe. We went the first day they rolled out this restaurant fest menu, where they offer a two course prix fixed for 32$, along with wines for 10$ and carafes Of cocktails for 25$. Each carafe holds about 3 generous cocktails, and they do not skimp out on the booze. We started with a burrata, ordered bread with bone marrow butter (yes I said bone marrow butter). It was divine. Followed by a fondue with different meats, this was probably my least favorite but that's cause I'm not really a fondue person, but I did enjoy the chicken/steak/sausage that it came with. We then ordered the lamb shoulder over polenta, the lamb was cooked so well, it was tender and seasoned well. Followed by the prosciutto ravioli which came with this aged balsamic glaze that they put on table side for you. Lastly, we wrapped our meal up with their ricotta donuts that are served on top of a chocolate hazelnut spread. All in all it was a lovely dining experience because of the food, as well as the ambiance.
Atmosphere was AMAZING. Food was just okay, paid an additional 25$ for flavorless truffles. Pasta sauce had no flavor. Burrata was delicious. Drinks were 7/10.

I celebrated a friend's birthday over the weekend.
It's such a pleasant spot for brunch. my friend's birthday is around Valentine's Day so there was a set menu option. We decided to order a la carte because we weren't that hungry for brunch. I ordered the Lambrussco wine, and it was surprisingly light colored, almost like a dark rose; but it was really good, perhaps one of the best Lambrussco wines I've had. The service was impeccable. The lady at the front desk was really nice and so accommodating. My party arrived at different times but they allowed us to sit even without everyone there on time. I'd definitely come back here again. It's one of my favorite spots for brunch, drinks, and dinner. Never disappoints!

Serra by Birreria is a beautiful chic restaurant located at the upper floors of Eataly, perfect for date night or for dinner with your girlfriend. I was trying to make a reservation for a last minute Thursday night dinner and after checking a few times throughout the day, a spot had opened up.I would come here again for the chic vibes, the nice decor, and the drinks.I ordered the ravioli and my friend the salmon, but nothing special and what you would expect from a rooftop restaurant.

Sat two tables away from Richard Kind! Rooftop.

This is an Instagram baddie's heaven - overpriced mediocre food, pretty cocktails, plenty of photo ops, and beautiful decor (for an amazing Instagram picture). We came around the last week of October so their autumn decor was still up.The 4 of us wanted to eat something light as we wanted to do a food tour around the area. First, the bread was stale and cold. The crust was so hard we couldn't eat another bite. We ordered the arancini, calamari, carne cruda, tagliatelle short rib pasta and insalata del mercato with chicken to share. My favorite was the salad, the dressing was the right balance of sweet and sour, and the vegetables went well together. Everything else was a nightmare. The arancini was tiny (we ate it in 2 seconds) and over fried. Meats were dry and unseasoned. Calamari was nothing special - the breading was falling apart at the seams. For what we paid for, it was not worth it.The cocktails were the highlight of our meal, but even that wasn't worth the $$$. Don't come here for the food, seriously. If you want the photo op, just stop by for their drinks.

Birreria is an Italian-inspired craft brewpub that opened
Birreria is an Italian-inspired craft brewpub that opened in Manhattan, New York in June 2011. It was founded as a collaborative effort by brewers Sam Calagione (of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery), Teo Musso (of Birra Baladin), and Leonardo DiVicenzo (of Birra del Borgo). It is located inside Eataly Flatiron NYC. Eataly is the largest artisanal Italian food and wine marketplace in the world. The first Eataly opened in Torino, Italy in 2007 to much success. Today there are 37 locations around the world, each one with its own collection of on-site restaurants. When the "Birreria Brothers" decided to debut their new brewpub at the Flatiron NYC location, they decided to make it a restaurant that features Italian-inspired beer-friendly food. In addition to an excellent craft beer selection from American and Italian craft breweries alike, there are also several unique beers that are brewed in-house. Due to the success of the NYC location, additional Birrerias opened at the Eataly locations in Rome and Chicago. Every year, Birreria changes their menu and theme. At the time of this writing, it is presently called 'Serra' by Birreria and the theme is "Winter in the Italian Countryside". My wife and I first visited Birreria in March 2016. At the time, it was called 'Baita' by Birreria and the theme was "Winter in the Italian Alps". The decor of the rooftop bar made it look just like an Italian ski lodge, which is actually what 'Baita' means in Italian. I started off by ordering a beer flight which consisted of Birreria originals "Disco Gets A Bad Rap" (Schwarzbier), "Gina" (Thyme Pale Ale), "Flip" (Winter Warmer), and Dogfish Head's "Romantic Chemistry" (IPA). My favorite was the Thyme Pale Ale; it was very flavorful. For food, we started out with a cheese plate appetizer which consisted of piave, trentingrana, robiola, taleggio and gorgonzola dolce. For our entrees, my wife ordered Strangolapreti con Burro e Salvia (Housemade Bread and Spinach Dumplings with Butter and Sage) and I had Cotoletta di Vitello alla Valdostana (Fried Seckle Farm Veal with Prosciutto Cotto, & Fontina). Everything was absolutely delicious and very complimentary to the beer. We would definitely go back!

If you're thinking that the decorations look cool and the food may be too, don't. The food is bland, the portions are small, everything is overpriced, and the service took forever (I think I spent a total of 45 minutes, maybe even 60, just waiting).

It was delicious! Yum! So here's the deal, I made a reservation for 6 and they were able to accommodate last minute additions without issue. We ended up having 10 at the table and enjoyed every moment. The decor is cute and seasonal - it is on the rooftop but it isn't an open space so it's temperature/weather controlled. I wish I took pictures. Our server was amazing, warm and accommodating- made fantastic recommendations and pivoted between English and Spanish seamlessly to accommodate our diverse group. The Arancini are a MUST! We ordered a second batch after we devoured the first. All the food was great - highlight was the fresh made pasta.

Romantic spot...Delicious
Great athmosphere, delicious food and elite service. We went whithout knowing, perfect from entrance to the exit, nothing can go wrong there. Dont remember the plates name because was written italian but ask for the lamb and the expresso martini. Perfect spot for couples, the energy was good. Katherine is very sweet and helpful. Will definetly visit again on our next visit to nyc. ;-)

Come for the view, stay because you’re hungry
This was my second time here. I love the way they decorate for the holidays, it truly is a must-see. Eataly downstairs is very nice but I feel there is not too much to purchase if you’re only visiting the City, most stuff may not transport. Anyway, the restaurant is upstairs and optionally a open rooftop depending on weather. The prices are slightly high, especially for the quality of food. The food isn’t bad by any means, it’s just not a steakhouse level. It’s fancy Italian food with a view. You’ll leave full and with tons of pictures of the decor!
This was my first time at Serra. It's a bit challenging to find, it's in Eataly. The space was beautifully decorated for the holidays with lots of lights. The service was very good, the wait staff did a nice job with a large group. The food was generally quite good although a bit oversalted. The salad and fresh mozzarella were tasty. The delicata squash was flavorful and roasted perfectly. The chicken scallopini was disappointing. It was basically grilled chicken. I was expecting a traditional brown mushroom sauce. The beans with kale were my favorite dish of the meal.
