Sushi Taro Washington Reviews from The Last Year
This place absolutely stunned me!Restaurant appears small
This place absolutely stunned me!Restaurant appears small on the outside since it shares the same building as a CVS, but wow the restaurant takes up the entire top floor! I was actually surprised that this place was a Michelin Star restaurant! We tried their December Kaiseki Set, which is a 9 course meal! Different courses are switched out depending on the season. It was definitely an experience since this was the nicest sushi I've ever had. I enjoyed trying the different nigiris, LOVED the hot dish sukiyaki with angus striploin, and all the dessert! The sake was exceptional too! The experience lasted almost 3 hours for us ~ time literally stopped in the restaurant haha. Although pricey, highly recommend trying the Kaiseki Set!Service was definitely really great! They really paced out the courses very well, and made sure we were informed about all the dishes!
I ordered multiple pieces of Toro and salmon sashimi.
When the Toro arrived, it had multiple white chewy parts cutting through the fish. When the salmon arrived, the bloodline was left on the slices of sashimi and nigiri. I was very disappointed considering sushi taro is a Michelin rated restaurant. I also ordered the Wagyu beef nigiri, which was seared. Unfortunately, the taste of the meat and the rice was disguised by the taste of butane from the torch that was used.I've lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years and I have not been at the restaurant since before Covid. I have to admit I don't know if I would ever return. I had been craving sushi for weeks and finally decided to make my way over and was completely let down by the quality of food.
If you're interested in the kaiseki (which you should be!),
If you're interested in the kaiseki (which you should be!), come verrrrry hungry! I hadn't really eaten all day and I could barely finish everything. My thoughts on each course:AppetizersFlounder - Delicate, and served with a delicious miso sauce. Excellent jelly inside (tasted bonito-ish?).Shrimp - The sauce was excellent, but the shrimp was nothing special.Lobster croquette - a little but on the heavy side. But there was a lot of lobster chunks, which I really enjoyed. The lobster sauce was a great touch.SashimiFatty tuna (minced) with salty jelly, chimichurri, and fried onions. The onions provided a perfect crunch to accompany the flavorful tuna and jelly.NigiriJapanese snapper, arctic char, sweet shrimp with fried shrimp head - all very good, loved the beautiful tempura on the shrimp head (which I've actually never eaten before and was very hesitant about but really enjoyed it).The soy marinated tuna was a major standout! For my 3 choice nigiri course, I was able to get anything except wagyu (and only one order of uni allowed). I made the obvious choice and went with 3 pieces of o-toro, which was, predictably, excellent. I've had fattier elsewhere, but this was still fantastic.SukiyakiExcellent! Go with the wagyu. The broth was incredible, both sweet and savory.DessertI chose the "roll cake" with, strawberry, cream, and vanilla ice cream. It was nothing special, but luckily I was too full to eat much of it anyways.Overall, an excellent meal with fantastic service. It was quite pricey, but we'll worth it as a splurge.
I have been wanting to try a Michelin star sushi restaurant
I have been wanting to try a Michelin star sushi restaurant for awhile now! Sushi Taro definitely exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing! We opted for the Kaiseki menu with premium sashimi ($20 extra). Each piece was so delicately made and fresh, it was a great way to try different nigiri pieces from Japanese sourced fish! I loved how we also got the hotpot, sashimi appetizers, croquette & soup to along with it. For the price and quality, it was super worth it. The service was quick, attentive, and well spaced out for 9 dishes. Our server recommended great sake to pair with our meal as well! The restaurant had small booths, tables, and counter space. I loved how intimate the restaurant was, almost like a hidden gem in DC. Perfect for a special occasion, an anniversary, or birthday. Will definitely have to come back and try another month's kaiseki!

I have been wanting to check out this spot for years! My friend and I tried to go for HH one time, but didn't get a spot, and for some reason never tried to go again until recently. Y'all! The BEST sushi you'll find. Okay let me start over, the vibe in there in cool, and larger than I expected. The service was amazing! Our waitress helped us order by giving us some recommendations. She was so nice and attentive! We started with the pork belly, delicious flavor and not too fatty. We then shared the shrimp & veggie and sweet potato tempura which were both amazing. Crispy but not too thick, perfect temperate and texture. We then shared the sashimi and sushi platters. AMAZING quality! I know y'all can tell just by the pictures. I'll be honest, I don't know all the fish we tried but everything was so good and buttery, just melts into your mouth. Make the reservation! Do not skip this spot. It's well worth the money. I can't wait to go back and start experiencing more of the menu.
I am so happy I finally got to cross this Michelin Star
I am so happy I finally got to cross this Michelin Star restaurant off my list! Ambiance (4/5): Very spacious and much bigger than I thought. They are located on top of CVS which was pretty neat. The decor is more on the traditional side than modern. We sat in one of the booths, which was private and intimate. Food (4/5): We ordered the Jo Chirashi and Sushi Jo both dishes comprised of a wide selection of fish. We were impressed by the fresh quality and execution of the dishes. The tuna roll was average and didn't blow us out of the water. Additionally, I thought it was interesting that they did not serve cocktails. Only beer and wine. Service (5/5): From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by staff. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. She explained the menu to us and we did not feel rushed. I actually got to spend quality time with my partner! Additionally, the food came out in a timely manner. We were full and did not have space for dessert, but our waitress brought out a complementary dessert with a candle for my birthday. This was such a kind gesture! If you have not been to Sushi Taro, I recommend going just to say you've been!
Sushi Taro - known as one of the best sushi experiences in
Sushi Taro - known as one of the best sushi experiences in DC and I've been wanting to go for a few years now but just haven't been able to. After finally making it I recommend the trip. First off, yes parking is pretty inconvenient as they tell all customers so be prepared to spend some time circling the block to find a spot unless you get lucky. Walking 5 or 6 blocks in the rain can be challenging. Secondly, yes, kind of an odd location on the second floor above the CvS so be on the lookout. Decor is simple and clean. Larger space with more tables then I thought. We went with the Kaiseki Tasting menu which is $135. Definitely not cheap but for the quality and variety of fresh sushi cuts, it's worth the splurge. It's also quite filling especially when you include the beef sukiyaki with udon noodles as one of the courses. All of the sushi was super fresh and tasty but the toro, the eel, the yellowtail...yum. The lobster croquettes in lobster sauce was incredible. Overall, so glad we made it and look forward to another visit soon. Well worth it!
Amazing return.
Service and quality of food -- great! Fish is always fresh. Presentation is clean and simple. We had the tokujo sashimi, two pieces of santa barbara sea urchin, maguro (tuna) and sweet shrimp, negitoro roll, and then added lobster sushi.Oh my... the tokujo sashimi had so many different kinds of sushi cuts it was almost fun picking what to eat next. The a la carte was a great choice--I loved our choices. We then added the lobster sushi and that topped it off. The lobster was soooo fresh: it comes with cooked lobster meat rolls, raw lobster nigiri topped with assortments, and one lobster butter roll. This was so worth it, but it made me wonder how great the lobster sashimi would be. I have to come back and try that too.
Went for restaurant week and I feel like this deal should
Went for restaurant week and I feel like this deal should not be real, lol. $55 for an amazing four courses and $20 for the sake pairing! We got the sukiyaki which had the most flavorful broth, the tempura which was great, both sushi courses, and subbed in a hojicha pudding which my boyfriend said was the best dessert he's ever had. Overall really great and a wonderful experience!
One of the best sushi meals and experiences I've ever had.
It's not the "fanciest" location, if that is what you desire, but the food is incredible. My family kept ordering more food and every item was a hit. The environment is clean, quiet and service is super. I will try to go back here every time I visit DC!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
