Great table. Stone crabs excellent Grouper excellent, Calamari was best ever but Key Lime pie somewhat disappointing. Sever was very good but a little rushed. Atmosphere was old Joe’s Stone Crab as expected.
😍

Was in the mood for a good apple pie so decided to see if
Was in the mood for a good apple pie so decided to see if Joes pie was better than their brownie sundae. It wasn't. The Apple Pie was not properly presented and was on a plate a little too small to prevent it from spilling as we started eating. We weren't provided any additional plates to serve so they clearly thought this plate was the appropriate size. It didnt seem to have any pie crust, but rather just a pile of walnuts and apple slices with ice cream on top. Flavor wise, it wasn't bad but there are too many other desserts to choose from than to pick the apple pie again.
😍
It was my first time having Stone Crab and this was
It was my first time having Stone Crab and this was definitely the place to get it from! The service was amazing and the place was very accommodating with seating us very quickly! The oysters were buttery and delicious, the coconut shrimp also very delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood! The atmosphere was fancy and beautiful!

Stopped in for their fried chicken deal Deal is good for
Stopped in for their fried chicken deal Deal is good for the price considering everything else there is $$$. I added a cookie that was almost half the price of the fried chicken Chicken was made fresh so came out hot and crispy. It came with two pieces of bread/buns. Flavor was lacking so definitely ask for the Buffalo sauce. Their ranch and blue cheese are SO good so that was a bonus. All in all - would go back if looking for a quick, convenient, and affordable meal.

If you're going to go to Joe's, be prepared to wait.
It felt like the Disneyland of dining. Even with a reservation, you'll move from one line to another to get seated. We went on a Sunday evening, our reservation was quite early for 6pm. We didn't get seated until after 6:30 where we had to wait some more. Joe's is billed at "fine dining" with white linen tablecloths. However, it had the feel of a high school cafeteria with the extremely loud environment. While the famous stone crab claws were tasty, and we had a knowledgeable and entertaining server, the dress code is not adhered to and the dishes are pretty basic. One visit was all we needed.
I had been wanting to come back here after enjoying it 20 years ago & finally made it back! All the food is excellent with generous portions including the famed sweet delicious stone crabs. Our waiter Gene was an old-school pro who enhanced our experience with his charm & knowledge of local history and was solicitous without being intrusive. Ambience is elegant yet friendly & lively. I hope to go back soon.
🤮
Shady, boosted our bill, didn’t tell us prices.
Very shady, stay away!! Ripped off!! I went there last night with my girlfriend. The waiter explained the evening specials, in which were 2 types of stone crab. She wanted the stone crab, so she asked the waiter which one most people ordered. He told her to get the jumbo gigantic ones, she said she just wanted the regular ones everyone gets. We relied on our waiter. So they came out and were huge, way too much for her to eat. She ended up eating maybe half. She liked them, that’s not the problem. The problem is when the bill came. The waiter never explained the price of these because they were on the specials, and he basically chose them for us. To my surprise, these were $134.95 on my bill. It was shocking they would push us into $134.95 stone crabs without explaining the prices of the specials, who does that? I was shocked and appalled. I was stuck, I didn’t want to say anything on a date in front of my girlfriend to look cheap, so I paid the bill. When we got outside my girlfriend asked why the bill was so high, we only had 1 drink each. When I told her that her stone crabs were $135 she was shocked and very mad. Needless to say, we’ll never go back and we’ll tell as many people about this experience as possible. Very shady business practices to boost the bill.
😍
Wow! The Stone Crabs were amazing.
.. fresh and a lot of meat. My wife and I also split a salad. Plenty of food. The restaurant is like a well oiled machine. Service was 5 star from when we entered to when we left. Valet and free parking is a nice benefit. Expect to spend $200 or more per couple. It is worth every penny.

My friends and I ordered from Joe's takeout as we were
My friends and I ordered from Joe's takeout as we were feeling lazy and reservations were limited that Wednesday night. Everything was organized well and ready for pick-up when we went to pick it up. Staff were friendly and they even have specials so make sure you ask about them when calling! We shared their select crab claws and chicken wings which were still fresh and delicious by the time we ate it at our table. The wings were juicy and flavorful but I don't think I could give them the title of "best." A tip would be to refrigerate them and eat them two days later as it gives it more time for the spices to intermingle, per my friend. For entrees we got their Philly cheesesteak, lobster roll, and shrimp creole. Both sandwiches were served in soft brioche rolls and filled to the brim with either steak or lobster. There was a melted layer of cheese on the bottom of the steak which helped it not feel or look overpowered by the creaminess. This had to have been the heartiest lobster rolls I've ever heard and I'm from New England! Needless to say I was impressed and satisfied. Dessert was their famous key lime pie which we ended up eating almost a whole week later. Even so, it was really good and this is coming from someone who is not a fan of them traditionally. This may convert me to try them more often at other places. Overall, I was really happy with the food and experience entirely even though we did not dine-in. As a result, I would love to come again and highly recommend others to check out this wonderful locally owned restaurants.
😍
So we came in to the restaurant and we were so confused.
The restaurant looked more like a quick service place than a restaurant? Then we realized AFTER our meal that it was joes stone crab TAKEOUT. Nonetheless we really enjoyed our meal and might've preferred eating in the takeout restaurant than the sit down one! Service was quick, we didn't need to pay tip on the already expensive meal, and there were no lines at 5-6:30PM! The stone crabs were so thick and filled with meat. The cocktail shrimp seriously blew me away-- a must get. The coleslaw was a lot more acidic than I was expecting but still great. And the creamed spinach was so amazing paired with the free bread rolls they gave! We finished the creamed spinach because we paired it with the bread. We finished off with the key lime pie and it was definitely the best I've ever had. Not overwhelmingly sweet and balanced well w the whip and crust. The workers at the register were nice and the ambiance felt just like a casual food court nothing intimidating or fancy.
😍
Been coming here for years and it's always a treat.
Excellent food, delicious cocktails and outstanding customer service.
Visiting Miami we couldn’t pass up the chance to eat stone crab and key lime pie. Having read all the reviews this place appeared to be a must to visit. It’s worth noting that it’s all about the experience, and if you select the Jumbo claws like we did it’s going to be an expensive meal. But we’re on holiday and we probably won’t visit Miami again as there are a too many places in the world worth visiting. The restaurant was really busy and it was a Monday evening, we had booked ahead and I would advise you book in advance; we couldn’t get in Friday or Saturday but that’s to be expected for a busy restaurant back home if it try to book last minute. The service is excellent and the waiters are more than happy to advise on what to order along with how to eat the crab claws - they make it look so easy . The crab didn’t disappoint and the key lime pie was amazing. Without doubt you should visit this restaurant and don’t be put off by the price, I’ve never eaten in a place like this in the UK.
🤮
Service was a total “sh@t show”, herded around like cattle, totally overrated !!
Absolutely rubbish from start to finish, table not ready when we arrived , made to wait in busy bar area with no seats available Then herded through like cattle by jumped up penguin in a suit , who was shouting out orders on a microphone This is not how you do silver service Toilet in ladies would not flush ! Over rated , over priced and totally up themselves, far nicer places in Miami , don’t waste you money - go elsewhere
This place is super classy, but not pretentious. Our server Tammy was helpful with recommendations and we enjoyed the experience. Make a reservation in advance. It’s busy.
😒
Over-rated and ridiculously expensive
Someone insisted we try Joe's on our one night in Miami so we booked Valentine's Day dinner. The place is like being on a cruise ship - they line up the waiters, then call dozens of names and you enter. OK, get it - the place is busy. Feels super tacky. Wait staff was very good but pushing the expensive/large servings. My husband had the stone crab - it was fine and side dishes were good. I had the grouper and it was the driest and most overcooked fish I've ever had. Asparagus was thick as fingers and no taste. Two drinks each and we leave this place with a bill over $300. We spent a week in Eleuthera after this and every meal we ate was better than this place. I would never go back, it was so average and over-rated.
Wonderful experience with my family for my brothers birthday. Our server Ricky, was beyond exceptional and everything you’d expect from a devine establishment such as this one. If I’m being honest, the rib-eye was by far the best one I’ve ever had! It tasted as mouth watering as it looks! My daughter asked for chocolate milk. Unfortunately they don’t serve chocolate milk but Ricky made magic happen and definitely won over my daughters heart! Bravo! Will be returning!!
This was a special night out and so we splurged! We started with chowder and caesar salad and then a large order of stone crab and lobster mac-n-cheese. We shared everything and everything was wonderful, including the fresh baked bread! We had enough leftover to enjoy a lovely lunch the next day.
😍
Food mouthwatering OUTSTANDING SERVICE CARLOS
Wow! Food in Miami is expensive everywhere Joes definitely ncluded but we wanted the best and our lyft driver and our hotel suggested this place as the best. It was Monday night and we didn't think about needing a reservation. Fail on my part yep it was an hour and a half wait but it was my birthday and my friends birthday too as we came in from Chicago so we wanted to try the best. We went to a bar down the road and came back. I wish they had a beeping system or calls but none of that. As we came back wow this place works like a machine our waiter Carlos was OUTSTANDING. Since this was our first time he explained the history of Joe's explained the menu and answered all of our questions. The food seriously worth every penny. I have a shellfish allergy but I love ocean fish. I ordered the red snapper fried but someone from the back came told me i couldn't have it that way due to cross contamination that was amazing the attention to detail to make sure I was safe. The grilled red snapper was so flavorful and perfect. My spouse had the Seafoid Trio he enjoyed each delicate bit of king crab, stone crab, and shrimp the presentation of the food was outstanding. After our main meal we wanted desert. I love key lime pie. i will say this was the best KEY LIME PIE I have ever had. I will say skip the alcholic drinks here very pricey and nothing to rave about. But the food and Service. I would come back for that. I truly do believe Joe’s is a MUST if you are in Miami Beach there is a reason they are #1 and talked about.
😍
Best seafood experience we’ve ever had!
We took our daughter and son-in-law for dinner and we had the best seafood dinner ever! The place is busy and can be noisy but if you have a chance to sit outdoors like we did it was great. Our waitress was super efficient and engaging. And the stone crab…wow! If you have a chance try the fried lobster tail. Delicious! So glad we went there. If you plan on going, make sure you book 2 weeks before as that is when reservations open up.
Recently ate at Joe's while staying in South Beach. If you have never been, you need to! It is definitely one of those iconic type of places. After that I probably wouldn't. Expensive with decent but not great food. Our service was very good! We also had a drink at the bar while we waited which was a great experience! They also have valet parking for a fee.
😍
As great as it was decades ago.
I had been to Joe's Stone Crab many, many times when my parents, aunts and uncles lived in the Dade-Broward counties area. I hadn't been back for about 20 years and finally had a chance when visiting Miami Beach in March 2022 during stone crab season. Outstanding! As great as it was decades ago. Get the jumbo stone crab claws!!! Sweet potato fries are a special side. Key lime pie for dessert is a must. And plus a fairly-priced decent wine list.
Stone crabs might be their main dish but they're coleslaw is incredible! Our server from the bar affectionately known as Casanova was very very professional and knowledgeable about the establishment he works within. We had a great bar experience!
🤮
Mediocre with a side salad of snooty
We were all excited to come back to Joe’s after a long time of not be able to go. Joe has to be turning over in his grave if he came today to see how pretentious the staff has become, the declining quality of the food prep and the ridiculous pricing they now have. The only thing he might be happy about is his bank account if that’s the focus first which is what Joe’s has become. A way to take advantage of customers while living off a reputation. They have cooks. No one is checking the quality of the order prior to being served which is called an executive chef. If you’re charging these kinds of numbers you must have. The food has become mediocre and certainly not commanding the prices they do. This will be their eventual downfall when people just say enough. I don’t need you to do me a favor to eat in your place and serve me food with an attitude as the side. I’ll go somewhere else that appreciates and respects our business. We like supporting family owned small businesses. The place screams we don’t care and pay me. Oh and leave me a Big tip while barely taking care of us. Unfortunately, restaurants like this start living off their reputations and forget it’s the customers that brought the success. I don’t enjoy being overcharged which u will be if u decide to eat here. For example, Stone crab is very expensive. Clams r still very cheap. They charge $12.95 for Clam chowder and $12.95 for Stone crab Bisque soups. The manager couldn’t explain it other then that’s what we charge because he knows like I do it’s an enormous margin on a Clam chowder. A luke warm Chowder and Bisque for $12.95? How about some $12 Onion rings and $11 Fries. Order those 4 items and that’s $51 with insane margins. Do yourselves a favor. Ignore all these ridiculous 5 star ratings and story of Joe starting the place a long time ago. I especially feel bad for people going for a special time out and really can’t afford this type of dining normally only to be price gouged. Joe has left the building. Only thing being done here well is extracting as much money from your pockets to fill Steve Sawitz (Owner) family and staff’s with instead.
😒
Thing are never the same
Oh no sad; went there many years ago, fun, great food, lively atmosphere; NOW atmosphere dry; food not appealing when it landed on your table…. No need to go back!
😍
Best restaurant we ate in our Miami Beach visit
What an experience to have a dinner in that restaurant, really something else. Our children and us enjoyed every bite, excellent crabs and lobsters. Great service and atmosphere.
😍
A must when visiting the area!
We had a wonderful experience last night with family and friends. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We ordered the stone crab of course, mahi-mahi, shrimp, burgers, fried green tomatoes, creamed spinach, hash browns and key lime pie. Everything was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back.
The atmosphere and history of Joe Stone Crab is what makes this restaurant. The service we received from check in for RSVP, to the drink at the bar while we waited, being seated and having multiple staff wait on us was impressive. Our main server was respectful and took care of our every need but was not impressive like the rest of the staff and that’s why I gave 4 stars. The server may have not felt well or in pain and trying to make it through the night. The food was amazing. I loved the coleslaw! Yum.
way overpriced average food at best, 350 for 2 people, left hungry, couldn't recommend, tourist trap
😍
Was in Miami for a long layover and I heard stories about
Was in Miami for a long layover and I heard stories about how good this place was for stone crab legs. Glad the talk wasn't wrong. Came in during lunch hour. The full restaurant wasn't open, but they have a grab and go menu and you can get your food and sit inside next to the bar. No fountain drinks, but self serve bottled beverages. Not sure if the dinner menu is the same as lunch, but you have a lot of choices this time of the day. Got the select crab legs, conch fritters and a slice of key lime pie.The select size claws are sized just below the large size, but the pieces are good enough for two grown ass men. Very good stuff. Tastes fresh, and super meaty. They come already cracked, so not much effort has to made to enjoy them. Served with butter and a cocktail sauce. Butter goes better with lobster, in my opinion. The fritters were plum-sized badboys...you get a mouthful of conch in every bite. Dip it in the accompanying remoulade and it's next-level stuff. You can be full with this side dish alone. The key lime pie was sublime. Silky texture, not too tart, and a good ratio of crust to filling. Worth going there just for this dessert. Service staff was friendly and patient. It's clean, well organized and nicely air conditioned, which will give you a nice break from the humidity of South Beach. Just a great overall experience.
😍
The BEST! The service was amazing and the product is so
The BEST! The service was amazing and the product is so fresh. Went here with my boyfriends parents. Everything is to die for. Stone crab claws (jumbo), lobster Mac and cheese, lobster roll, seafood chowder and super fresh oysters. A little far from my place with traffic but it's worth the drive.
😒
The crabs were very moist and good.
But their prices are ridiculously steep. Not for a big family on a budget.

What happened to this place? I went 7 years ago and have been looking forward to coming back since, I've even tried a few times and have not been able to get in. I will not be trying to get in there again. Just finished a close to $300 meal here that was equivalent to diner food. And at a diner, I wouldn't be complaining because it is what I would have expected. 1. No crab in the stone crab bisque 2. Shrimp cocktail was fine but not great 3. Lobster tails are served out of the shell and are very obviously previously cooked and frozen. The server told us they remove them from the shell for us, but they were clearly not freshly prepared, as they came out as flat as a burger patty. For $60 by the way. Many other great seafood places in Miami, so I'll avoid this one in the future. I recommend you do the same.
😍
If you're in Miami and don't go here you're missing out.
Best stone crab claws ever. I like ordering a large order of claws with an unbelievably inexpensive order of fried chicken with a couple of sides as an outstanding dinner for two. Oldest restaurant in Florida and it deserves the enormous crowds it attracts. It is a long trip from where I live and worth it.
Food was real good. Best deal is a whole fried chicken that is still priced from the 90's. They don't take reservation but they do call ahead. It was packed.
🙂
The service was perfect, the stone crabs delicious and
The service was perfect, the stone crabs delicious and perfect cracked, so there was no effort involved. Just enjoyment of a perfect dinner. My friend and I shared 2 large servings of stone crab($160). The potatoes were a little burned and dry, the Brussel sprouts were good . The season ends on May 1st. We will make another trip for sure!
