Orsa & Winston Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
I loved everything about this restaurant.
The intimate setting, the service, the food, the wine selection and even the photos of cute pups Orsa and Winston on the walls. I didn't expect much at first but the 5 course menu for the price is so worth it! There were multiple compliments of the chef throughout the dining experience. Definitely well deserving of the Michelin star rating!
Everything top tier.
Lights were dim, so a very nice place for a date. Wait staff was excellent. Every dish was a different experience. Every was prepared beautifully.
Have to say one of the most mediocre Michelin restaurants I
Have to say one of the most mediocre Michelin restaurants I have been to. Pretty disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant. They do compliment a lot of dishes but none of them are impressive. Chawanmushi is a little too cold. Everything else just seems not meeting Michelin star criteria. Wine pairing too. Nothing makes me remember. On the other hand, this place is not expensive. 125 per person can def fill a person with a bunch of compliments. If you are looking for decent food for a reasonable price this is not a bad choice.
The tasting menu is good quality and filling.
There are nine dishes in total although the menu only listed five items. The most impressive dish is the squid ink agnolotti. The mascarpone is of the right consistency so the entire dish doesn't taste too heavy. It also goes really well with the lobster cream and pine nuts. Other items are good but not mind blowing. The cod texture is a little dry and too lean, and I don't find the blueberry jam or the strawberry corn cake complimenting the cod. The chocolate mousse dessert is a little thick and dry and also cake like. The ambiance is nice and simple. The service is definitely not on par with Michelin standard. The servers didn't explain the wine menu well, and when asked for a recommendation, he gave a simple answer without elaboration. They also didn't come to refill water often and required asking them to do so. They didn't come fold the napkin when you left for bathroom. Overall, it felt as if they directed their attention to those who ordered more wine because they're the cash cows.

My boyfriend and I had our Valentine's Day dinner at Orsa & Winston. The restaurant offers a 5 course meal at a set price of $125 per person and the chefs gave us an additional 5 gifts. The food was delectable, and the combination of the various ingridients in each dish further enhances the flavor of the overall dish. The service was impeccable and the waiters explained in detail the origins of each ingredient in the dish as well as the wine from the wine pairing. The wines were hand picked by a waiter who selects the wine that pairs the best with each dish. The ambiance of the restaurant was modern and spacious. The restaurant had an open kitchen which gave an impression of an inclusive environment. I believe the price point of the meal, the amount of food we got, the spectacular service, and the exceptional experience from the chefs make Orsa & Winston a restaurant worthy of its Michelin Star status and a visit.

Orsa and Winston was an incredible experience for an incredibly affordable price for dinner. We had the 5 course meal and beverage pairing. Easily worth way more. I am Chinese and I have tried multiple 3 Michelin star restaurants and this one blew me away with its simplicity and relatable flavors. I usually hate sweets but the desert and wine pairing was perfect and had me eating more than 2/3 of the desert. Wow. Roman was our sommelier and he didn't seem as expressive as other sommeliers I have met so I doubted he would be able to pull off an Asian fusion pairing. Luckily I trusted the Michelin ranking. It turned out to be an impeccable pairing with a variety of different perfectly placed wines and sake. You must have the beverage pairing. The ambience was simple and private, a perfect place for a quiet modest date. You feel like you were cooked a I will recommend this place for my friends and family. Thank you. Enjoy!

The food is great - started kinda average but just got better. The seafood rice porridge is a can't miss. Service was great also, ambiance no issue. My irritation lies solely in the additional 20% service charge that is not a tip. Seriously, you're doing a prix fixe menu. Plenty of other restaurants in the higher dining space have gone to a full ticket price (including tip) model. I'm fine adding a tip after. But service fees that don't go to the staff? That's your overhead. Bake it into the price of your meal. Kinda deceitful to do it the opposite way.
There were definitely some hits and misses but I thought
There were definitely some hits and misses but I thought our meal was really good overall! It was slightly below the expectation I have for a Michelin star spot. Ambiance was nice, it's a super small spot with only like 6-8 tables. Some of the highlights included a fantastic lobster soup - filled with lots of meat and great flavor. Also the scallop and umi dish, wow it was fantastic. I also loved the tuna crudo course - it was simple but the fish was so fresh and flavorful. The most disappointing was the pasta, though. For an Italian fusion spot I was hoping it would be the highlight but it was really bland and under-thought in my opinion - especially given the truffles on it were flavorless. The main fish course was also kind of meh. Service was really good though. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back but glad we tried it!
classy casual restaurant.
italian asian fusion. food was absolutely fire, every course was perfectly balanced and nicely portioned (i left stuffed). got the wine pairing which honestly complemented the food so well and I dont even like wine. My favorites were probably the risotto and the cornbread (the bread was magical fr). few seats but vibes were nice. also the bathroom was hella cute. street parking or paid parking lot down the street. good service.
Nothing special.
I've been to many restaurants that were better. In general I should admit that the quality of food is excellent. As well as its appearance. I expected more enthusiastic service, maybe being more cheerful, giving at least one smile. I have enjoyed the quantity of meals. Exactly what you need not to be overfull, as well as to try as much as you only can. However the tastes weren't surprising (as you expect from such a restaurant). It's not an extraordinary. The only dish that I considered being fantastic was a complement:) (garlic polenta with fish). So it was so smaaaaal. I wish I could rather triple that one and ate only that dish. And the dessert, that is also really good. So.. I'm sure I won't come back. I don't regret, but still.
Michelin rated restaurant with set menu
Michelin starred restaurant with a set menu for $125 plus extra for the wine pairing. Came here for dinner with my dad on a Wednesday evening and made a reservation online in advance. There were metered street parking available close to the restaurant, which looks a bit nondescript from the outside but is located close to Bar Ama. They give us extra plates and they were all so delicious. By the end of the meal, we were both so full it hurt (but it hurt so good). Below is what we had for our meal (though note that your dishes may change depending on season and availability): - Chawanmushi - super soft and savory; a nice start. - Kanpachi crudo with iced plant and citrus purée and pluots - really interesting flavor and it was the first time I had an iced plant - Squash blossom stuffed with ricotta and black sturgeon caviar with hazelnut and pink lady apple and Parmesan salad - nicely crisped texture and a fresh salad - Angolotti wirh two types of tomatoes and Sicilian cheese and Tartufo - one of my favorite of the dishes; the tomatoes burst in my mouth and the cheese was so creamy - Matai snapper in broth - my least favorite dish but my dad did enjoy its warm, savory soup - Soft shell with aioli - both of us had this as part of our top 3 dishes, and it was an extra dish that wasn’t part of the standard set - Wild sturgeon with huckleberries and Japanese squid ink - the final savory dish and it was a nice way to end - Cornbread pancake with cotton candy grapes - another first for me, as I never had grapes in cornbread but somehow it worked - Peach with marscapone and miso glaze: I wasn’t expecting this for dessert but it was homey and had a nice graham texture - Chocolate macaroon - a nice little bite to round out the meal with high quality chocolate
One dish was almost worth the visit.
(Ate at this one-star Michelin Star restaurant in November 2022.) This was my first ever Michelin star experience. I was with two friends. I ordered the wine pairing. They did not. All three of us ordered the tasting menu. One of us has a wide spectrum allergies (gluten, nuts, chicken, etc.) The first two dishes were spectacular. The Jerusalen (sic) Artichoke Soup. And the Satsuki Rice porridge. A year later, and I AM STILL THINKING ABOUT THE PORRIDGE. I think I would murder for that dish. It is definitely in my top 5 of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. But . . . the rest of the menu was disappointing, to say the least. The duck was tough and somehow flavorless, and the gianduja tart was nearly frozen and impossible to cut through. My friend and I were literally chasing our desserts around the table. Our gluten-free friend was served an impromptu creamy fruit dessert and his eyes rolled back into his head with pleasure. We wanted some because of our disappointing tarts, yet he refused to give us even a morsel. We threatened him with our knives but to no avail. The wine pairing was interesting, but I could have done without it. It wasn't life-changing the way the porridge was. Honestly, I would have been so happy with a bigger bowl of porridge, some fresh baked bread and a small cut-able chocolate something for dessert. I fully admit I am a peasant. The waiter seemed bored and uninterested and didn't really try to engage with us. I will try another Michelin restaurant at another point, but for my two friends, the tab wasn't worth it.
Incredible food and beautiful environment
Loved the intimate, calm atmosphere and the very informative and personable waiter/sommelier. The open kitchen and limited number of tables made it feel like we’d been invited to the chef’s home. The food was incredible, starting with a savory egg custard that was better than any steamed egg dish I’d ever tried before. It was a creamy texture with complex umami flavors. Another amazing dish was the polenta with toasted/burnt cheese topping. I highly recommend the wine pairing - it was five wines that were mostly from small vineyards and paired perfectly with the fresh, seasonal dishes. We loved the main course, freshwater trout with huckleberries and lentils - the fish was perfectly done. The cost was well worth it, and not unreasonable for a Michelin starred restaurant.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
