The service is a shambles. Wrong food delivered, staff that can’t order drinks, and a very long wait for a dish from the grill which was undercooked when it finally arrived. Only saving grace was that the broccoli was nice.

Tonight I decided to come to my favorite restaurant in town. Reservation was only possible thanks to Daniella. The food was amazing, as always. The ambiance was lively. But the experience was made possible due the attention of Arleta. She is the Queen of the room. Her hawk eye always finds a customer with a need. 🙏🏻 I’ll be back. You can count on it!

I paid for my son and 4 friends to go to Roka Mayfair on my amazing experiences I have had at their restaurants. 3 of them had the premium tasting menu on my recommendation.. and to hold out for the wagyu beef because it’s the best thing I have ever tasted .. They were severely disappointed.. that grade of Wagyu at that price is served pretty rare .. melts like butter on the palate .. This one was over cooked / slightly burnt and chewy …! To say im gutted I suggested they went there and had the most expensive tasting menu is beyond disappointed is an understatement.. I don’t think I will ever go or take my business colleagues again. Plus there is nobody to speak to at the end of the phone ..! Go to Zuma is what i would now suggest !!!!

Would not recommend, bring on stickNsushi anyday. The food was awful, tasteless, the veggie tempura was bland and tasteless and greasy. The edamame was covered in large rock salt, the tables are so close together. Defintelly it is all a hype!!

We were greeted at the door by a very unwelcoming front of house lady which immediately set the tone for our evening. Tables are very close together. Floor staff were helpful yet rather aloof and unfriendly and you certainly get the feel that they are eager to turn around tables. Food was very nice, however definitely prefer the experience at Nobu.

The food is great in Roka. The wagu beef and black cod are amazing but the service is awful. Waited 30 minutes for a table we had booked. Waited 20 minutes for cutlery and asked four staff. This let’s the place down. Too busy and staff struggling. Ruins the whole experience.

How arrogant head chef refuse to accommodate our vegetarian friend with Padron peppers that where on the menu with a meet dish can , we ask our lovely server for few peppers and he said no we asked the restaurant manager hand he said the Head chef refuse to hand over few Padron peppers (for extra payment of course ) What an attitude???? our party of 6 will never go back to Roka Mayfair as with head chef like that in place

Average food and service, despite selected dishes that were good

Have eaten at multiple Roka restaurants over the years in the UK and overseas. Today’s experience and food was mediocre. Of course my rating won’t impact their average and it probably won’t improve because of this - but I need to give feedback anyway given that delivery fell short of expectations. - we sat at the counter which is fine, yet them piling us lemons / limes at the corners for Liz leaving empty plates around for too long attracts insects/fruit flies. Not appetising for my young daughter to keep waving off the insects off her food - food was a mixed bag. The spare ribs were done nicely. The chicken skewers were over cooked and dry - we saw them grilling on for quite a while from where we sat. The sushi was good average. Miso soup was way too intensely seasoned / mixed. The iceberg salad and found to be creative and well made resented. - service was mixed to poor. There is no dedicated waiter. So we dealt with someone who took the order and three other people who brought or took food. Hence follow ups were not always consistent and timing of the food too spaced out given multiple dishes. When I flagged the insects and slow arrival of dishes I got a weak apology and shrug. Everyone seemed stressed out, maybe under staffed. In any case, I was not impressed. Have tried most upper end Japanese restaurants in central London - from authentic Japanese Izakaya to foreign owned places like Roka. Have also lived in Tokyo and travelled in many parts of Japan - so I can calibrate both the food and price point. Given the 150GBP spend for a simple dinner for two with no alcohol today - I was underwhelmed. You enter and leave the place without feeling welcomed or appreciated as a guest, which is a no go for a Japanese-themed restaurant. Too many good alternatives in London - no need to return to Roka Mayfair.

General Manager threatened to call the police on me and my friends

We got there on time but our table was delayed. When we sat down and looked at the menu we ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress said okay, we eventually ordered another 2 bottles. side note the bottle was served by a different person. When we got the bill we noticed that the price of the wine was way more expensive that what we saw on the menu, so we disputed it with the General Manager, Pedro explaining that it was not our mistake but the waitress who took our order, he was very rude and hostile. He made us feel so small. We were happy to pay for what we believed the price was and as a gesture of goodwill I expected him to understand and grant our request. Instead he threatened to call the police if we did not pay and completely embarrassed us in front of the whole restaurant, as 3 black women this was very disheartening to see, I will not give my money to such a place again!

Overbooked and understaffed

Food was great, but the place is overbooked and staff too busy to pay attention to their guests. We ordered around 10 dishes, 3 of which never arrived. We didn’t pay attention to the missing food, as the table was full of food. Upon paying the bill, we realised they have charged us for the 2 dishes they forgot to serve us. Luckily, they could see in their system that we did indeed not receive the full order. They then apologised. It’s such as shame that they overbook and understaff this beautiful restaurant.

We sampled the sashimi, a roll, some dumplings, and more sashimi, and all of it was amazing. We eat a lot of Japanese food at home, but this was definitely up there. The staff were super polite, and effective for a busy restaurant.

My friend was in London from Dubai. We decided to go to Roka as we both love sushi /Japanese cuisine. I had reserved a table and in the morning I called the restaurant and requested outdoor seating. I was told seating could not be reserved outside and it was on a first come first basis. We turned up about 10 mins before our reservation and I requested outdoor seating only to be told by the hostess that you had to reserve. I informed her I had been told out door seating could not be reserved... she was dismissive and added of a table became available she would give us bu that the table could only be available for 2 hours irrespective what time we sat. I asked to speak to the manager and the hostess said he was not around and I asked where he was and she replied somewhere maybe in the office. I asked her to go find the manager. I woudl reiterate the hostess was rude and dismissive. The manager came and lo and behold it was the gentleman who had been walking around the restuarant!! I spoke to the manager and he said he would give us a table outside in about 10 mins. We waited for 40 mins and I could see 2 tables free. However the hostess approached a couple who had come after to advise them a table was available outside. She eventually came to us and allocated a table outside next to the bus trays and I refused. We then took it upon us to seat ourselves at another table and we waited for the table to be cleaned and set. No one came so I asked the hostess who rudely replied "why we sat at the table if it had not been cleaned". She eventually came and cleaned it half heartedly and someone else came and set the table. However we were not given wet towels to clean our hands which they offered other guests. We ordered edamame and 2 drinks which took some time to arrive and then we had to ask to place our order!!. Roka serves dishes as and when they are cooked which is fine but it seems the intervals at which our dishes arrived where unnecessary lengthy culminating in the sweet potato dish coming wahy tool long after our last dish and with the waitress apologising for this and that we could have it on the house but we declined. Turning to the food.. the aubergine salad was good and so was the soft shell crab. What stood out was the tuna tataki..amazing. the black cod dumplings were yummy. We also ordered 2 lots of sushi which was good but perhaps the sushi could be improved slightly. In between we ordered 2 diet cokes and they took forever to arrive. We were also advised that we could not be allocated a 4 person table but then the hostess seated 2 people on a 4 seat table next to us!! Not sure why the hostess had told us that irrespective of what time we sat down we would have to vacate the table at 4pm because we were seated until 4.45pm and the terrace was virtually empty It's such a shame our experience was marred by a rude hostess and very slow service. No one came to enquire if our food was ok etc and it was extremely difficult to get anyone's attention due to be seated outdoors. My friend did tell me that she had visited Roka in dubai and the service was amazing. I am in a quandary to recommend Roka Mayfair to anyone.

A great night out

The meal here was pricey but very delicious. The highlight was the thinly sliced yellowtail with a yuzu truffle dressing, which struck the perfect balance of earthy and acidic. The teriyaki salmon and four pepper beef are also great options if you want a larger dish. The quality and fresnhesss of the meal was superb plus staff were very friendly and attentive, so I would absolutely recommend if you want a fancy night out in Mayfair.

Just WOW! I've never esten at Roka before nor had Japanese food for that matter. Not a single complaint from any of the five of us dining. Three had the set menu but even with the other two tucking in, we couldn't finish it all. The restaurant is lovely and the staff attentive. A memorable meal for our friends birthday. Thanks to the Mayfair team :o)

My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary and felt like such rockstars! We did the tasting menu and I promise we were not disappointed! Carlos and Sebastian took such great care of us not only speaking highly of the food but making sure we were okay. The chef is incredible! The desert really made our evening with this extravagant broken down cheesecake! WOW. Exactly what I payed for, Exactly what I wanted! I wouldn’t change this experience for the world. Thank you!!

Service gets none, especially for the cost. Swanky Mayfair crowd, and lively though not too loud despite being full. Hostesses on the snooty side as well. Cooked dishes better than sushi. Definitely would return on someone's expense account. But not my own dime.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
