Our table for 6 was a communal table but felt like our own table. Service was amazing! Interior is beautiful. And FOOD was soo good. We got 2-3 dishes from each section and 1 bottle of wine (total was $800 including tip). It was all amazing! Make sure you order the bread and butter. The bread can also be used to pick up sauces from the dishes. *Just valet park. This area is tough to find parking.

We've been to Republique several times for dine in and we did a Christmas black truffle tasting menu as a takeout box at the height of the pandemic. On every previous occasion, the food has been fantastic and the service well-timed, unrushed and capable. Sadly, things seem to have changed since our last visit. Last night, we did their multi-course prix-fixe black truffle tasting 'experience' - it was definitely an experience, but not a good one. We arrived a few minutes early for an 8:15pm reservation. They were running late. After 20 minutes of waiting outside, we decided to grab a drink at the bar. We were seated 5 -10 minutes later. By 9:15 (an HOUR after we'd planned to have dinner) we'd still had no food other than an unremarkable truffle croquette amuse bouche and no wine other than what we'd ordered at the bar. Eventually, I asked the waitress what was going on and she said they were waiting on the sommeliers. After that, she must have reminded them we were there because the next two dishes of truffle panna cotta and bread with truffle butter came out right away, as did the wine. Both dishes were tasty, the bread great as always. About 3 minutes after the panna cotta arrived, the first person came to check we were done and tried to grab my partner's half eaten panna cotta off the table. We explained we hadn't finished. Thirty seconds later, the next person appeared to check if we'd finished. By their third attempt, we had actually finished. So by this point they'd managed to both rush us through our food and delay our dinner by an hour. Ugh. The next course of lobster & stracciatella salad with black truffle wasn't great - no real rationale to the dish - just some random bits of stuff with truffle on the plate. By this point, the timings seemed to work themselves out and food and wine actually arrived together. The rouget was the best dish of the night - great quality, flavour & presentation - exactly what we were expecting (hence the 2stars rather than 1). The reblochon pithivier was also good. The agnolotti was just ok. Pretty bland and uninspired, just filler really. One of the managers made a point to come over halfway through this dish to tell us they'd asked the servers to add extra truffle to our pasta because of the mess earlier - pretty weird. I guess we were supposed to feel special because we got a few extra slices of truffle? Surely the chef built the dish to be served with the optimal amount of truffle? Is more better here? The wagyu beef course was extremely disappointing- stringy, tough meat and nothing special about the seasoning or accompanying bits. The server asked how it was. We said it was ok. She apologised. They gave us a glass of Sauternes with the dessert as recognition of how underwhelmed we were with the meat. The dessert was poor - hard as a rock meringue in a boring pavlova configuration. Meh. So overall, very unimpressed. Tasting menus are hard. It's tough to find & keep good staff. I get it. So why bother offering a menu they were so clearly unable to execute competently? Especially at over $1000 for two people (including wine pairing, tax + tip)? Very disappointing.
🙂
BEAUTIFUL bakery case - a feast for the eyes.
Each decadent dessert looks more delicious than the next. Unfortunately, the pastries themselves were a little underwhelming. We got the basque cheesecake and the ube brioche. The cheesecake was fire, but came unadorned. It's just a slab of rich, cakey cheese sans crust. It was good, but I think it would have benefitted from some fresh berries and a little whipped cream
😍

I've been wanting to try this place for a while but was always apprehensive about the long line. Decided to try it, and didn't regret it! The line may seem long, but it actually moves pretty quickly since people are just ordering at the counter, picking pastries, and seating themselves. You are given a mug with a number and your food is delivered to your table. All the pastries looked soooo good and I wish I could've tried all of them! This visit, I got the ube coconut cake, matcha raspberry cake, guava coconut cake, a pain au chocolat, and a cappuccino. All were delicious, bold, and flavorful combinations. Would definitely return to try more! Also - it looks like they allow dogs since I noticed plenty of pups coming in!

wowwwww!!!!! Wow wow wow!!! The most amazing meal and service I've had in a very long time. Blown away. My best friend and I went to celebrate my promotion at work and we felt like we were the most important people in the room. Obviously we know we're not, but they made us feel that way! From the hostesses, to our server Gabriella, to the bartender Jason, the GM, the wine sommelier, the bussers, and the runners, everyone was so wonderful, so professional, polite, and knowledgeable! Their hospitality was on point!!! We were checked on often, new plates for every course, great suggestions. They even gave me a sweet congratulations card. The food was like nothing I've ever had. So delicious and beautiful. I can't wait to go back. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO!!!!!! The music was sooooo my jam too. Thank you for the best celebration night ever. It was a dream
😍
I ordered the Basque cake for Ignacio's (Mr.
Basque) 83rd bday yesterday. He and the whole family absolutely loved it. Thank you so much to Republique for making this cake, everyone was so shocked that I found this and they couldn't have been happier. Marizcurrena approved.

This place was good! Parking is a little tough but they have valet if you cannot find something. We did not have a reservation (oops!) but they accommodated us by seating us at the bar and that worked for us. We got some non-alcoholic mixed drinks and they were delicious. I love seeing more non-alcoholic drinks being offered more than just sodas. The baguette with normandy butter was good! I think the butter and salt did all the work there. For our entrees, we got lobster pasta and tortellini with truffle. I would have liked more pasta for the price but it was very good. And the desserts, soo good! I got the honey cake with pistachio ice cream, which I enjoyed so much I think I will get that again next time too. We also ordered the almond butter cake but they accidentally brought us the chocolate hazelnut cake. They brought out the almond butter cake promptly so it was all good! Look forward to going back and trying more of the drinks, desserts and dishes

Went here for brunch with my husband and toddler and we all
Went here for brunch with my husband and toddler and we all had a great time! Our little one got the chia seed pudding, I got the mushroom toast and my husband got the breakfast burrito and everything was perfect. The crime brûlée cappuccino was also a nice touch and we got the ube roll cake and crème brûlée bombolini from the cabinet which we LOVED! We were all so full by actually ended up finishing everything because everything was amazing. For parking, there is valet right next to the restaurant it was $10 for us on a weekday but I remember it actually being cheaper on weekends before a certain time. You get a card with QR code and after you're done eating and ready to leave you can pay and tip on your phone and they will bring your car to the door- just an fyi we paid and called the car as we were leaving our table and ended up waiting about 20min outside. We will definitely be back, we've heard great things about dinner here so can't wait to be back to try it out!
😒
Maybe they were having an off night but dinner was just OK.
It was fine but it didn't feel special to us considering the price we were paying and we tried quite a bit off the menu. It wasn't enough to send it back and its hard when you're serving a group of 6 people so I don't want to knock 'em down. The courses and portions are supposed to be shareable and while some were, some weren't so big so it was a little confusing. Skip the short rib unless you like a corned beef texture. I think i expected something different and more fall apart then the stringy shredded beef.Basically, a lot of the main entree courses were just fine but it wasn't mind-blowing. There were some stand-out favorites of mine like the melon Crudo and the squash blossoms. The crab beignets were good but I was expecting something closer to a donut (that's on me though!). The lobster pasta dish was good but for a $45 dish, I'm expecting something a bit more... (another skip)While Republique had some gems, this place made me question if I even like french food. I do hear such good things about the pastry so I'll come back and try again. The interior is REALLY nice though, we sat outside (precautionary) but if I have a chance to sit in when I feel more comfortable I will definitely do so!They also took a long time between courses or the courses were kinda weird because we'd get 4 dishes in one, and then just 1 dish so there would be times when only a few of us were eating. I think maybe the kitchen was backed up or short staffed. But it is covid times so I understand.
🙂
Delicious & creative food
The Manzke’s are 2 talented chefs and their food is creative, thoughtful and delicious. We experienced exceptional service from Olivia and the staff on the patio. I highly recommend the baguette with Normandy butter & Fleur de Sel, the beautiful steak tartare with Dijon ice cream. This was probably my favorite bite of the night. Creative and delicious. We also shared the Lovster Campanelle and a short rib with fries (done right, twice fried, probably in duck fat) so GOOD! Our one negative review is that sitting outdoors still feels like a converted Covid parking lot. There isn’t much charm. Had we known, we would have requested indoor dining. The ambiance was greatly lacking and just made me sad.

Great choices on menu - food fabulous, staff at counter great - serving staff not brilliant but the food more than made up for it - delicious! Plus you can see the whole kitchen at work and even the bakery side - watching the bread being made from scratch - highly recommended
Wow! We came here for brunch and tried several things including a Tres Leches cake, a Bombolini and a savory danish. The main entrees we ordered and the lattes were very good but the desserts were amazing. There was a long line even at 10 am when we arrived but the line moved quickly and we were inside in 15-20 minutes. When its your turn to order, there are several large cases of beautiful pastries and other goodies to choose from. The choices were too many (maybe look online before you go for the first time?). Although I am not a Tres Leche cake fan, this was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever had. There is open seating in what feels like an open windowed warehouse and a server brings you your food after you order. We are all foodies and this is as good as it gets! I told my daughter I was writing this review today and she replied I'm salivating just thinking about it. Yummy, Yummy & Yummy. We can't wait to go back!
A very nice place, I felt like it is a family oriented simply because of the attention and care provided by the staff specially (Joey). Most of the food we have ordered tonight was excellent in matter of taste and presentation, very good service. Highly recommended
🙂
Would have been a 5 if had better service
Food was amazing but had many issues with the staff. Asked many times for silverware and glasses and didn’t get any until much later after getting our food. One of our entrees also didnt come for a another half hour after the rest of our food did.
Our server Sandra and the sommelier, I can’t remember her name right now, were both amazing! Thank you for a wonderful night out. The food was incredible. Based on their current menu the baguette with butter and pan drippings, the baby greens, the crudo, the stuffed squash blossoms, the lobster Campanella, and the arugula casarecce are all highly recommended. They have a very wonderfully extensive wine list.

Classy twist on a modern LA restaurant
We went here for a birthday dinner and it blew our minds. The food was absolutely delicious. The main restaurant is indoors and tight quarters, not recommended for dogs, recommended to get reservations. Republique serves small plates, we recommend taking them family style as the dishes are all amazing and worth a try. The chef masterfully twists classic French flavors and techniques with seasonal California ingredients. The result is a fresh and rich flavor unique to the time and place. The atmosphere is extremely inviting while maintaining an upscale feel. The modern California vibes are definitely here but the restaurant is tasteful, it does not feel needlessly trendy and incorporates facets of the historic building. High ceilings allow the moderately sized restaurant to feel spacious and airy. The service is top quality. Wait staff are highly knowledgeable in the food and drink, and quicker to respond to guests’ needs than many similarly priced restaurants in Los Angeles. Highly recommend!
🤮
Lunch. Hugely, massively, unbelievably over-rated
What a load of rubbish. Don’t bother. We’ve eaten in all the best, ‘hottest’, most well-established, recommended places. What a waste of an hour of my life. Congrats to their PR team; they’re doing a great job!
😍
Love this place! I tried and true go to in Los Angeles.
The décor and service are fantastic and the food is outstanding. Definitely in the monthly rotation!

PARKING:FREE paring on SYCAMORE (behind restaurant) 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday (Street Sweeping Thursday 8am-11am). Or 1-Hour Meter Parking 9am-4pm on LA BREA. Or Valet parking entrance on LA BREA. SERVICE: You order and pay as soon as you walk in. Then seat yourself and they'll bring utensils, drinks and food to your table. They are very quick every time I come (I usually go weekdays). FOOD: I've never had anything I didn't like here (on their breakfast menu, not including pastries). This place is very hyped up in the media, but it lives up to the hype! My ranking on things I've tried:#1 Potato Pancake#2 Mushroom Toast#3 Kimchee Fried RiceCan't wait to try more!

One of my favorite places to go for brunch.
I hate this area of the city but having valet is a Godsend. Don't let the long lines deter you, the cash register and bakery case is right near the door. Once you have ordered and paid, I've never had an issue grabbing a seat.Dinner is just as excellent and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This dynamic duo can do no wrong and if you like their food, I highly recommend Bicyclette and Manzke as well.
😍
The food, drinks and service was a 10 out of 10.
I wish I could eat the charcuterie every day. The decor is really cool, I suggest sitting in the front room, the architecture is fun to look at. The rear room is darker and more intimate. Made a reservation online so I didn't have to wait for a table. Definitely going back.

Although it was crowded, the staff tried to be accommodating and the food was delicious. And then there is the bakery, unbelievable. This is a great restaurant not to be missed by a visitor or a local, it will be one of your regulars. The building is historic and beautiful. You will love this restaurant.
I've been here many times. Just one downside see the Photo: They don't answer the phone no matter how many times you call. What if I couldn't get ahold of someone and it's an emergency? At the price point I pay I expect a quality of service in all areas of the experience. Service needs to wake the hell up.But alas I love this place so much. People are lovely. Food is great. Service is attentive and accommodating. Highlights: wine selection, beef tartare, baguette with butter, steak, crudo... yeah all good. Please answer the phone! Then five stars ;-)

Located on a busy street with valet parking available, this iconic building houses a perfect place to grab your break fast. With how big and busy this place is this is the first time in my whole life I have ever received fastest service possible. Great customer service and wait time is almost non existent. Our food was out within 15 mins from the time we were seated. Omelette and French toast were great

Chic French goodness with a side of artsy.
Highly recommend and will come back. Loved the food and old Hollywood vibes.

large selection of breakfasts on the menu, I like it.
It's tasty, fresh. Big choice for bakery
There is absolutely NO passion or care in dining anymore at this restaurant. The service staff is stiff, coarse and deliver your food and beverages as if you are in a fine dining restaurant, but the food is - meh... now. In the beginning, it was scrumptious and felt like finding hidden gems in all of the dishes. Tonight - beignets were so greasy it was laughable. Don't make cheese filled beignets if you cannot get the dough right. Beef tartare was also a huge MEH! No flavor... had to ask for S&P. At these prices, why go again? I used to love this place but it's on the decline. Oh and the restaurant was half empty, which was a big red flag from the moment I walked in. Should've listened to my instincts and saved $100.

My burger was overcooked and the fries tasted old. Our food was given to us about 20 minutes apart and when we asked for condiments or cups they took another 10 minutes to bring them over. The servers hardly checked in.

I've been to Republique a handful of times both pre and post pandemic and it has always been amazing and wonderful. There's usually residential street parking that is not very hard to find a few blocks away or metered parking right up front. When you walk inside, you immediately feel like you've been transported to a European building in another country. It is a casual bakery and cafe which turns into a formal dining restaurant at night by Chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke. On their menu, I've tried the avocado toast, regular breakfast, kimchi fried rice, mushroom toast, and shakshouka to name a few. No dish has ever been disappointing and the presentation is always aesthetically pleasing. The ingredients always complement each other very well without being too much. A few months ago, I was able to try their dinner for a special occasion and would have to say that I prefer their daytime brunch/lunch menu. We got seated in their outdoor patio area which was quiet so it was nice to be able to hear your conversation. We orderd their baguette with their rodolphe le meunier butter, lobster campanelle, and duck. Portions were on the smaller side but the food was still very tasty! I always take my out of town guests here and they always love it as well. Such a cute place!

Despite the long lines, Republique still serves up a carefully prepared and presented brunch fare. Each dish features fresh produce, especially visible on their Ricotta toast! Loved their creative pastries and clever placement by the entrance. Nitpicks: the Maine lobster omelette tasted underseasoned. The non-assigned, find your own seating concept was different for sure. For a place so upscale and popular, them taking reservations for breakfast/lunch would be a huge bonus.

Nominated for 'Outstanding Pastry Chef' by the JBF, Margarita Manzke continues to solidify Republique as one of the go-to restaurants for all things pastry!Food: A vast array of pastries are shown the moment you walk in. Coupled with a creative brunch and drink menu; you can always visit this place and be swept away with something new!Black Sesame Mango Eclair - A great pairing of tropical and tart mangoes with the subtle roasted-taste of black sesame. Favorite pastry thus far!Potato Pancake - Smoked salmon and the creamy textures of hollandaise and soft poached eggs makes this perfectly pan-fried potato pancake a brunch staple!Ambience: The Spanish-style architecture makes you feel like you're dining in another country! Perfect with a cup of coffee and weekend brunch with friends. 10-15 minute wait time on a Saturday morning.Service: Extremely helpful and patient when we needed time to look through all of their pastries. Packed during weekend brunch so please be patient with them!Arguably my favorite brunch spot in Los Angeles. Don't miss out on this iconic restaurant!

Republique is popular for good reason.
The airy, high ceilings and details of the space is gorgeous. It is also much bigger inside than it looks including an upstairs area. First off, you order your food, get a number, and then find a table.I came on a Sunday with a party of 7. We didn't have any problem finding a table and waiting in line took about 10 minutes when we arrived at 9am. Parking was a bit trickier, but they offer valet that's $5 in the mornings, $8 after 11am, and $10 for dinner. Note that you pay for the time you actually leave, so ended up paying for the lunch price.Between our group, we ordered the Chia Seed Pudding ($16), Potato Pancake ($21), Brioche French Toast ($17), Regular Breakfast ($21), Kimchi Fried Rice ($22), Southern Waffle ($18), and a Green Juice ($9). Everything was delicious, it was honestly tough to even pick a favorite dish. Despite how simple some of these dishes sounded, they were really tasteful, refreshing, and unique. All the eggs in every dish were in such a deep yellow and cooked to perfection. It's definitely best to come with more people, so you can try more items since I can't imagine how I could just pick one.To end, we also picked up a few baked goods. The display of baked goods looked so scrumptious. Everything not only looked good, but tasted even better. You really can't go wrong here --definitely easy to see why this place has garnered the attention it has.

Been coming to Republique for a couple years now whenever
Been coming to Republique for a couple years now whenever my friends or family visits and they absolutely love the ambiance and the food here. They do have long lines but it does move quick in my experience. They also offer dinner items here as well. I never tried but definitely want to in the future. Every time I visit, it just really makes me feel like im in a movie or some instagram picture worthy place. They offer an abundance of pastries that you can choose from when ordering your food at the register. Notable Food Items:ShakshoukaBrioche french toastCoffee (i love their coffee)Parking is paid valet or street parking.
The food was not bad. I was told that the appetizers were priced for one bite, so I didn't order any. I had a baked scallop for $34.00, one scallop only. It was good, but not worth $35.00. Next was pumpkin risotto w/ quail, also good but not worth $49.00. Both of these had truffles. Next came the red wine short rib. Also good, not worth $45.00. I think I'll take a break from fine dining, it's just not satisfying anymore, maybe it's COVID.
