But the food is very tasty, the service is very quick, and generally this is one of my favorite sushi places around. Certain high quality dishes are hit and miss with the quality but for general orders, I have never had a complaint. Also be careful to only order what you plan to eat, they can be difficult about additional charges for waste of food or To-go orders when doing AYCE

Luckily we were able to be seated at a table although I heard it's a better experience at the bar. I had such an amazing experience at sushi gen! Although we waited about 1.5hrs on a saturday night, it was well worth it! The quality of the fish and richness was delicious. With every bite, the fish was buttery soft and melted in my mouth which paired so nicely with the warm sushi rice. I will definitely be coming back soon! It is no wonder this was place is highly rated and is always on a recommendation list as one of the top sushi spots in LA. I came here for lunch during the week and it was still very crowded. Although busy, we were able to be seated within 20 mins. They have a lot of lunch specials and you cannot go wrong with any of them. I ordered the fresh water eel rice bowl and sashimi combo. The amount of food you get for the price is quite a lot. Unexpected for the current times. In addition to the rice bowl and sashimi, the meal came with miso soup, tsukemono (pickles veggies), and silken tofu. I would say within 10 mins of ordering the food came out very quickly. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. The rice bowl was so delicious; the eel was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The freshness of the sashimi was unbelievable. You can taste the naturally sweetness for each sashimi piece. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. This is a must visit for sure!

High quality, clean, and consistent. They don't take reservations and the wait to dine-in is pretty brutal. I've gotten used to taking my order to go during the pandemic, but even then, you need to call ahead or you'll be waiting for an hour or two. The last time I dined in was in September '22 and I think we waited almost 2 hours...I usually get the Premium Sushi Deluxe ($45) and get a few pieces a la carte. Amaebi (ask for the head fried), monk fish liver, salmon belly, and scallop. Remember, each order is 2 pieces! I love the scallop and amaebi so much! The deluxe comes with miso soup, and it's all pretty filling. The deluxe comes with a piece of uni & otoro as well as some other tuna pieces. I'm not sure if they do the Uni Dinner for take-out but I ordered that once dining in, and it was one of the best uni I've tasted. They fly it in from Japan and I remember they only have a handful available.

The fish was so fresh! We got the sashimi deluxe and also a sushi platter. They were both delicious and we left feeling VERY full. We were also really lucky - we got seated immediately after walking in (recommend going on a rainy day to avoid long wait times). The price seemed fair for how great the food and service was, and the restaurant itself was very nice with a bar where you can watch the chefs prepare the sushi. Will definitely be back!

Had the opportunity to dine at this place tonight and oh man... there's a reason why so many people are willing to wait over an hour to enjoy some sushi here!First off... parking is not good. The do have a little parking lot that you have to pay for. If that doesn't work, the parking lot across the street costs $10. The primary lot was full, so I parked across the street. It's par for the course when it comes to LA parking.My wife and I came here on a Friday night and arrived around 6 pm. The person took down our name and quoted about an hour. Lo and behold! We got in around 7:15 pm. Not too bad. There were a lot of people who arrived after us too. I'm sure they'll be busy all night!What did we order? We ordered a ton of food haha. I got the sashimi deluxe ($48 at the time; March 2023), my wife got the sushi deluxe ($28), and I got an order of uni and amaebi or sweet shrimp. I don't know which one was which, but one was $20, the other was $16. Our server asked me if I was sure that I wanted to order a la carte sushi in addition to my sashimi plate and was shocked that I would want more because she said the plate is usually meant for two people. Well.. I didn't eat lunch and I was HUNGRY! The order of uni and sweet shrimp were fantastic! Very fresh and tasted great! Price is pretty typical of those premium pieces. Definitely recommend getting the uni! It was so buttery and delicious! The sushi deluxe was also a really good deal! It included a piece of toro which was melt in your mouth delicious! I really enjoyed the sashimi deluxe. For the money, they gave a ton of fish! They were also very generous with the slabs of toro! I believe I had 5 decent size pieces of toro! No rice included, so it's good for those who are on a low carb diet. All the pieces were really good. All in all, it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back again and enjoy the delicious and fresh fish that this place offers.

Really, really great sushi. Had to wait about 40 minutes, but it was worth it. Everything was very fresh, and service was quick. My only complaint was that my beef teriyaki was slightly tougher than expected, but that's on me for not going for the restaurant's specialties.

Want a little abuse with your sushi? Then look no further than Sushi Gen. They don't take reservations, which is fine. So we arrived and put our name on waiting list. They said the wait would be 30 minutes. It turned out to be an hour and a half and during that time standing in the parking lot of the strip mall they inhabit, many people who came well after us were seated well before us. We finally examined their wait list and realized there were two columns to it and that the two weren’t treated equally. Exactly what they based their segregation upon, I suspect, but can’t know for sure. Regardless, the sushi did not justify the long wait and the *rude* attitude of their two “hosts”. (What kind of sushi would justify such inhospitable treatment?) Yes: it’s really good sushi. But there are probably twenty other sushi restaurants in Los Angeles that are as good or better. So why eat where they treat you like they could not give a damn that you are there. (And maybe preferred you weren’t.)

This sushi restaurant was highly recommended to us by a friend who lives in the area as being someplace that's well worth the long wait. We got here right as the dinner period was picking up and put ourselves on the wait list, and ended up waiting almost an hour in the parking lot. However, once our table was ready - wow! The sushi was some of the freshest and most delicious that we've ever had. We shared the plum roll, salmon belly, and tuna roll, as well as a beef teriyaki, and everything was utterly fantastic. The staff were super professional and polite, and the food came out in good time, which is a sign that they took great pains to serve food that was both delicious and aesthetically pleasing. The restaurant itself is pretty small, which might account for part of the long wait - this place can only accommodate so many people.

The quality is consistently very good and the menu options are concentrated but all thoughtfully structured. At the sushi bar are all sushi chef items. Try the toro (any type). At the table there are bentos with teriyaki chicken, steak, salmon, sautéed whitefish, fresh water eel, uni dinner, hamachi Kama dinner, kanpachi head dinner. Dinners comes with perfect steamed rice, soup, pickle, sunomono. It is a popular place so be prepared to wait a long (60+minutes). They are closed on Mondays.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
