Le Gratin New York Reviews from The Last Year
My husband and I had an event in the financial district and
My husband and I had an event in the financial district and looked for a restaurant for dinner. Le Gratin was the Daniel Boulud Jewel that we found. We arrived early for our reservation and visited the bar for a cocktail. Fritz the bartender was friendly, welcoming and suggested fabulous cocktails from the restaurant's speciality cocktail list. My husband loved the bourbon cocktail with the fig syrup and I loved the French martini. It was a great introduction to what was in store for the meal. When we were seated, Clara was our server and she was an absolute piece of charm. She loved the menu and was very knowledgeable about the region's food and wine. We put ourselves in her hands and ordered everything she recommended. Fritz even came to our table and checked on us to see if we liked the second round of his wonderful drinks. Nice touch. The meal was wonderful. My husband adored the duck breast and I had my favorite - sole. Per Clara's recommendation, we started with the chicken liver pate and ended the meal with the apple galette (after all it was Pi day). Both were amazing. The place is beautiful. It reminded us of a lovely little jewel box in France. The service was amazing from the hostess to the person who cleared the table. My husband and I talked about it the whole way home. It ticked all of the boxes for a very enjoyable and memorable evening. The food was amazing as you would expect from one of Daniel's restaurants - but the service was outstanding. Daniel has built a great team at this restaurant. Thanks to Fritz and Clara especially for making it great!!
Came here for a work lunch, because we heard they had a top
Came here for a work lunch, because we heard they had a top notch burger in lower NYC. All three of us has burgers, and all were content. Wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best, but decent. (better burgers for $30) The service was good, but it was not busy when we went so a lot of attention was on us - we had 3/4 different waiters asking if we were OK etc, which was kind of annoying.

Prepare to embark on a journey of culinary bliss as you peruse the menu crafted by the talented chefs at Le Gratin. Each dish is a work of art, meticulously prepared using the finest ingredients and innovative techniques. For the main course, the roasted duck breast with cherry jus is a standout, perfectly cooked to tender perfection and paired with a sauce that sings with complexity. But perhaps the true star of the show is the dessert selection. Le Gratin's pastry chef is a true virtuoso, creating confections that are as beautiful as they are delicious. The raspberry soufflé is a must-try, its delicate exterior giving way to a molten center of pure decadence. Of course, no dining experience at Le Gratin would be complete without expertly curated wine pairings. My experience at Le Gratin in NYC during the winter
My experience at Le Gratin in NYC during the winter restaurant week prompts a balanced 3-star review, influenced by my personal preferences for Lyonnaise cuisine. The prix-fixe menu presented an intriguing selection, and while I ventured into uncharted territory with the TERRINE DE MOUSSE DE FOIE VOLAILLE (chicken liver mousse pate), it didn't quite align with my taste preferences. The dish was interesting, but the limited slices of bread left me wishing for a better balance. It might not be my cup of tea, but it was worth the try. The endives salad turned out to be a challenge for my palate, as the bitter greens might not suit everyone's taste. The TRUITE ROSE TOPINAMBOURS ET CHOUX DE BRUXELLES SAUCE AU BEURRE ROUGE, featuring well-cooked steelhead trout, was the standout dish, proving to be the highlight of the meal. My girlfriend's order, CONFIT DE CANARD ET SALADE AUX LENTILLES VERTE, introduced her to duck confit, and she enjoyed it despite the overwhelming presence of capers. The GÂTEAU CHOCOLAT AUX 3 GANACHES dessert was a delightful conclusion to the meal, presenting an amazing chocolate cake. The service was bustling, perhaps due to the restaurant's popularity, particularly with the Asian crowd, as it was filled to the max with patrons from that demographic. In conclusion, Le Gratin offers an interesting culinary exploration with hits and misses. While some dishes may not suit every palate, the restaurant's popularity and diverse menu options make it a worthwhile visit. A 3-star rating reflects my mixed experience, acknowledging the restaurant's strengths while considering personal taste preferences.
Excellent French food, smart service, and dimly-lit French
Excellent French food, smart service, and dimly-lit French bistro vibes. French cuisine is not really for me, but I can definitely see how this would be a lovely place for a romantic, warm and filling dinner. My one gripe is just a personal preference, really: I don't really like heavy lunches, and Lyonnaise food seems to be really heavy on the proteins and fats: even their salad had juicy bacon bits and generous cuts of chicken liver! I would personally go here for dinner instead.

Came here a few days ago for Valentine's Day and overall had a good time. Really cute place and with great service that was very fitting for the day. Food was good too - It was good to try some French dishes I don't often usually see at other places. I'd be curious to come to try again in the future.
The quenelle and the potato au gratin were worth going back
The quenelle and the potato au gratin were worth going back again again for. Service outstanding also. A favorite.

I wanted to share my recent experience at Le Gratin in the Fidi neighborhood. As someone living in the area, it's disheartening to say that it falls short of the standards one would expect from a French restaurant. If this were in France, it likely wouldn't stand for long. The owner, Daniel Boulud despite being a celebrity chef, seems to prioritize the brand over maintaining quality. The lack of effort in quality control is evident, with most dishes relying on pre-packaged sauces. I feel those giving high scores might not have experienced a real authentic French restaurant. It's a big NO for me !
I booked a table at Le Gratin almost immediately after it
I booked a table at Le Gratin almost immediately after it opened in the spring of 2022, partly because I've usually enjoyed Daniel Boulud's restaurants, but primarily because of its potato-centric menu -- when it comes to comfort food, my wife worships at the altar of the almighty spud, and so I knew she'd be thrilled with a fancy feast of taters in all their finest forms. And our inaugural visit was indeed a memorable meal from top to bottom. For the food, the richness of the Dauphinoise potatoes and moules frites was tamed by big bowls of pristine greens adorned with lump crab and garlic-mustard dressing, with everything washed down by racy, high-acid white wine. And the ambiance blew us away, from the bistro-chic decor to the convivial vibes and spacious booths. It was such an impressive experience that Le Gratin was the first place that sprang to mind when we decided to eschew our Feast of the Seven Fishes tradition and head out on the town to a classy joint for Christmas Eve dinner a couple of weeks ago. And it was as if nothing had changed during the past 18 months -- if anything, the food was even better and the vibes were even livelier. We once again ordered the aforementioned Dauphinoise potatoes and moules frites, as well as a bonkers special of barely cooked scallops with lobster broth, yuzu kosho, sea beans, maitake mushrooms and more. But my favorite dish was a new addition to the menu: artichokes with glazed root veggies. Holy moly, it took some truly brilliant classical cooking technique to make this so extraordinary. If I ate meat, I'd definitely try some of the more adventurous dishes, such as escargot tempura with pig trotter croquettes or the charcuterie (for which Daniel Boulud is rightly renowned). Fortunately, any dietary preferences -- potato-obsessed or otherwise -- will find satisfaction at Le Gratin.
You MUST do the potatoes, duck, half chicken and spaghetti.
The desserts are the perfect ending. YUM. It was a walk to the bathroom, but worth the excursion. It's like opening a door and walking into a cross between a speak-easy and library. We will definitely be back!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
