For a French restaurant, I thought the wine list was extremely limited and only had a few red wine options to choose from. Also, the service was odd and a bit disconcerting. For some reason, they had issues with where I was putting my coat and insisted I hang it on the coat rack, where it touched other people's coats (not exactly Covid friendly). Also, my friend and I were only there for an hour but started getting lots of looks to hurry up and finish so that they could seat other people. It wasn't like we had only ordered one glass of wine, we ordered a bottle plus a few oysters and duck confit. It was a nice Saturday afternoon (not dinner time) so I would have liked to enjoy our appetizers without feeling rushed.

Her fish wasn't even cooked. She said it was rubber. That's disgusting. So she returned it and the next one was good. Her birthday dessert was brought out by some busboy who didn't even light the candle. It was nice they even acknowledged her birthday as I asked but if you are going to entertain that sort of thing, can you just do it right? I would have much preferred the waitress coming out with a smile and handling. 182 dollars later I got the bill with a circle around the suggested tip. I rounded to 30 dollars without really realizing it should be 30 dollars and change. My credit card bill comes with the tip adjusted as per the minimum suggestion. That's just plain wrong. Have a feeling it wasn't an accident. So I spoke with the Manager who said they keep all receipts for two months and they will look into this. The General Manager calls me back and says they can't locate the receipt but it was probably just a mistake. I bet if ate there again, the same thing would happen!...and they can't locate the receipt? The General Manager offered to reimburse me the 30 cents or whatever it was but didn't really understand that there was a bigger picture. Needless to say, I am not going back and definitely don't recommend.

I have not been to Marseille in ages, I would say, at least 3 years, but it's a reliable option for pre/post theater meal, with an efficient friendly service and delicious food. The menu has undergone some changes, which I feel are for the better, and we had enjoyed an amazing meal there before seeing Moulin Rouge. They are very adept at handling theater crowd, and if you let them know you are going to see a show and at what time, they will make sure you are served promptly and make it on time. We ordered a few appetizers: oysters, shrimp beignets, octopus, and duck mousse. For mains, I had short ribs and hubby got skate. For dessert, we went with panna cotta and creme brulee. Every single dish was truly delicious.

I think that I might have a new (well, only) French go-to spot in Hell's Kitchen. Also, the restaurant is adjacent to the Theater District, which makes it a perfect spot for pre-/post-show bites and drinks. We dropped by Marseille to check out its Restaurant Week menu and were pretty pleased with the variety on the special menu. Walking into the restaurant will take you straight to France, which makes for a pleasant dining experience. For my dining pleasure, I had the Kabocha Squash Gnocchi, Branzino (Parsnip purée, cauliflower, black truffle dashi), and Toffee Pudding with Pecan Ice Cream. Hands down, the Branzino had to be one of the best that I have eaten in NYC. The fish was flaky and the skin was crisp. Also, the Branzino was perfectly seasoned. Everything was pretty amazing. While our first server was good and on point, he kinda dropped the ball in telling us or another server that his shift was ending during our meal. Aside some that small issue, I have no significant complaints about Marseille and would love to revisit the restaurant.

First time coming here for food, attending restaurant week with my spouse. Service and atmosphere are very pleasant, the waitress was exceptionally attentive, as was the maitre d', busboy, and even the manager. Food is a different story. To begin, they serve hot rolls with a slab of butter and olive oil with hebs. Well done! After that, my pleasant meal turned uneventful. Here is a run down. Appetizer: Kabocha Squash Gnocchi with Comte Foam and Creme Fraiche. Served warm, but flavor was lacking. Couldn't really taste the squash. Main: Venison with Daube of King Trumpet Mushrooms, Rum Spiced Banana Puree, and Red Wine Jus. The meat was perfect, but the banana puree combined red wine jus was awful. AWFUL. I wanted to send the dish back, but chose to finish out of respect for the line cooks and servers, avoiding the puree sauce. I get that the chef wanted to tease our taste buds with the contradicting flavors, but in this instance, it was a total failure for me. Dessert: Dark Chocolate Caramel Tart. Flavor good, but clearly this had been in a freezer right before serving. It was like trying to eat a brick - I had to ask for a steak knife to cut up the tart so I could eat it. The cooks should be sure to thaw these out well before serving. To cap of the night, my spouse found a piece of glass the size of his thumb in his dessert - which he didn't notice until it was in his mouth. You can read his review for more details. Overall I wasn't impressed with Marseille. There are better French restaurants in the neighborhood and city at large, though I will commend the staff for excellent service and appreciate the brasserie style atmosphere. Hence 3 starts instead of 2.

Came here for restaurant week, would love to give it a 4 star for good service and decent food BUT at the end of my meal there was a piece of GLASS the size of my thumb in my dessert. Thank got it was not sharp; I already had it in my mouth, thought it was part of the dessert but when I spit it out it was a glass, How dangerous it is. The manager came and apologized and waived my portion of bill but it definitely ruined the whole mood, still wondering if I had swallowed any small piece already. Apart from the bad experience; the food is a little blend, tuna tartare is not salty at all, the aioli basically just cream it doesn't complement the tuna well. Branzino is crispy on the skin but still not salty, cauliflower was a bit undercooked still taste raw in the middle. I had the Panna Cotta for dessert, well it was good until I had the piece of glass in my mouth.Overall not a good experience except the service. Prob won't come back again.

We each took turns picking restaurants to try for dinner and this was the one I had picked. We had started at the bar with some raw oysters and some cocktails and waited for our table to be ready .We had gotten there a little early so we had some time for our first round of drinks. We had to show our vaccine cards to dine here which we were completely fine with and made us feel slightly safer.Once we got to the table we had ordered some escargot and a small cheese plate which are both really good. And for dinner I had gotten steak and fries and my wife had gone a duck entree. The food was all very good and the service was phenomenal. I sometimes forget how much I like French food and coming here reminded me of how much I enjoy it. If you're in the city and you just gotten out of play and want something good to eat this place is not a far walk it would be worth considering.

What a fun cute French restaurant that caught my attention earlier in the day with its champagne listings outside the door. Decided to make a reservation and grab dinner here since it was close to the hotel. Did not disappoint. The shrimp beignets...omg! Amazing!! My husband enjoyed the oysters. We had skate and short ribs were both very good. Dark chocolate caramel tart with buttermilk ice cream....heaven. One of the best desserts I've ever had. The inside is so cute and cozy. Our waitress was lovely. Will be back!
