Momofuku Ko New York - Buy Reservations

My wife and I were so bummed leaving here tonight and I am honestly pretty reluctant even writing this. My wife and I are intense foodies and admittedly had sky high expectations for Ko knowing of its history, head chef and founder. I'll try to keep our experience as concise as possible but there's a lot going on here.First up, we weren't offered pairings with the tasting menu so we had to order al la carte which bit me hard. I ordered a bitter drink into a bitter urchin dish. My mistake but there was no way of knowing. When the dishes worked they really worked. The scallop, cold friend chicken, and foie gras were all great but relying heavily on a signature ingredient (caviar, foie gras) which feel like a crutch and hard to not deliver on. For the more subtle dishes, the scallop with mushroom was amazing, the hiramasa was unique and delicious. The rest of the menu wasn't great. The dishes were either lacking balance or downright bland. The lamb was lackluster, the mustard dip even more so. Maybe I'm the problem, I genuinely don't know. It just didn't do it for us tonight and looking around the main dining room it seemed we were in similar company. The overarching issue that I think detracted so much from the experience was the lack of drink pairings, the super short descriptions of the dishes with no real context, and by far the few (they know who they are) hands on deck that were standing idle in front of customers more frequently than helping out their kitchen. It was super distracting and just came off really unprofessional in a kitchen they maintains two stars. We also had not seen the Front of House manager once until we had finally asked for the check early because we just wanted to get out of there. We did have a super nice staff member approach us and hear me out. We were having a good conversation when the FoH manager approached and with a very defensive tone asked if everything was fine. We tried continuing our conversation with the initial staff member but she had made it pretty clear she wanted us talking to her and not him. It didn't come off and genuine at all from her. That really sealed it for us. I understand the current head chef is on PTO and maybe we just caught the restaurant at the wrong time, and maybe my expectations were way overboard, but it's hard to believe that this much went so wrong at a restaurant of this renown and caliber. There are obviously gems within the kitchen but the resounding "vibe" was that there wasn't a clear leader keeping things moving at pace nor a FoH manager ensuring that customers were having a good time and getting what they needed. We were only in town for three days and this was a bucket list item for us. To have this experience just sucked plain and simple. I hope it's a one off and they others had a good time. Perhaps we'll try again next time we are in town.

The hamburger with foie gras was quite possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten. Anywhere!!! Only thing I thought after eating it was...time for round two! Cold fried chicken was great. Only thing I didn't particularly care for was the chicken fried steak. If you get it, eat the red part. If you eat the white part (fat/gristle), you will be sorry. We were in the bar area and I don't know what people are bitching about there. It was great.Service was very good. Our guy was on top of things and kept it all coming! He probably could have explained things a little better but he did say order off the menu, we did and were extremely pleased. My experience here really makes me want to come back and try the large tasting menu in the main dining room. This is some really inventive food in a cool setting and someplace I'd definitely come back to.

This is my favorite restaurant in NYC hands down! I have never had better food in my life. I highly recommend sitting at the counter and having the tasting menu. You will not be disappointed! I didn't take any photos here but 10/10 would recommend! Watching the chefs prepare and cook the food was a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave great wine recommendations!

It started ok but the dishes kept elevating in complexity. Fried chicken with caviar that tasted like a lobster stir fried, Sweet potato soup that's like an Asian fusion take on tortilla soup, aged sirloin was a highlight, sea bass was my favorite- light and subtle, final main course of duck is also well prepared. Overall a fun experience. Also, I was worried about all the grill smoke will get into my clothes but we were fine.

We had the full tasting - and to be quite honest it was entirely worth it. The experience is genuinely fun, and somehow served extremely elevated plates in a way that made it feel accessible, and light-hearted. The service was fantastic. We sat at the long table surrounding the kitchen - watching the chef's make the most delicious bites. They were welcoming and shared laughs with us during the process. Definitely the most unique and down to earth fine dining experience (for a pair of your average 30 year olds in NYC). Every single course/bite was absolutely delicious. The sommelier was gracious and explained everything super well. The pandan rum punch was one of my favorite cocktails probably ever. Needless to say - everythjng we ate was absolutely amazing. They even brought out an adorable little birthday dessert and card for my fiancé, definitely unexpected at a spot like this but super cute and we appreciated the kindness and extra effort :) We will definitely be back!

Everything about the experience was amazing from the staff to the chefs and the delicious foods all made an everlasting memory. I went to celebrate my partner's 40th Birthday and Ko did not disappoint. we were seated very quickly and as soon as we were seated we were quickly serviced each staff welcomed us as if we were apart of the family and I loved that. The menu consists of 10 perfectly coursed out dishes starting with smaller dishes working it's way to larger portions and ending with dessert, trust me when I say you will leave fully satisfied, I was honestly surprised at how full I left. I couldn't honestly pick a star dish because everything was great not one dish I found disappointing but I can say the foie gras burger was out of this world it's not included in the tasting menu but I asked the staff ahead of time and they worked it into the tasting perfectly.We Opted to have our tasting with the wine pairing and each glass paired so well with each dish It was mind blowing ,it's definitely worth the add. I made reservations for the main bar and that seating was the best spot in the house to sit back and watch what may look like chaos to some but art to me each chef crafting beautiful dishes with such passion that was definitely tasted in each dish. The pricing of the tasting menu was a pretty good penny but totally worth it, the experience alone will give you chills ,they made my partners 40th one to remember with a personalized note and a dessert with a candle to end the night. Do make reservations before hand and Try that BURGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was only appropriate we visit while visiting NYC! We were a bit late for our reservation because Uber apparently has the wrong address. If you are taking Uber.. Something to note, manually type in the address instead of searching the name in Uber. The staff was able to text us and let us know to take our time and it happens often. They were very understanding and accommodated us.It was an incredible meal. We booked last minute and was only able to land an ala carte reservation but it was perfect. We were greeted with a personal and signed bday card for me! Every night their menu is different and we were presented with a bullet style journal of their offerings for the evening. We forgot to photograph a lot of their food and that's how you know they made delicious plates! We ordered the following:- Hamburger w/ foie gras - ko egg w/ caviar- cold fried chicken "deluxe" with caviar + ranch (this was my fav. Great flavor pairing)- striploinWe loved every item. We left super stuffed and no room for dessert. They sent us home for my birthday with a Japanese cheesecake. Loved our experience!

This was such an incredible meal!! The ambiance, food, service, drinks were all perfect. We made a reservation ahead of time and sat on the side where they let you order a la carte. The menus are so cute! They're handwritten in a notebook and you can see the past days since they write it new every day. We got 2 appetizers, the cold fried chicken and 2 other plates for a meal with 2 people. We accidentally ordered a massive bucket of fried chicken (didn't realize the drumsticks were full sized, not wings), but it was so yummy and served cold so we took it home. The truffle potatoes were on the salty side, but so addicting. The wagyu burger melted in your mouth. The butternut squash ravioli roll was flavored so well.

I liked how they showcased the dry-aging meats near the dining area. Loved the omakase style set up despite it not being omakase (like a mix of omakase, open kitchen, and hibachi set up). Servers and chefs were all really nice, attentive, and informative. They also gave out little tins of gummies to take home (which were also super yummy) Food highlights/lowlights:Cold Fried Chicken with Sturgeon Caviar [5/5]: loved this one. I love cold fried chicken haha and this was an elevated version of that (plus cold hard evidence that cold fried chicken IS in fact delicious despite all the **** i get from my friends that I'm a heathen). Really strong and bold flavors, a little on the salty side. Caviar added a nice creaminess to the chicken. Perilla Leaf Sorbet [5/5]: super clean and refreshing, a very interesting flavor profile. It was perilla leaf with something else but i forget what it was... never the less really enjoyable, have never tasted something like this before, and in case you were wondering, it's the super bright green dish in my photos.Cod with broken rice [3.5/5]: this one was ok. The cod was really tender, the rice was good (like a porridge) - just wasn't a huge fan of the flavors they used (reminded me of mcdonald's fish filet lol which i'm not a fan of) The chef asked us how we liked it as they just added it onto the menu and were experimenting with the dish. We honestly told him that we weren't a huge fan of the cod - compared to the other courses, was not a stunner. Overall, a decent enjoyable experience. I do think it is over priced for the food - I've been to many other 1 and 2 star michelin places that blew me away with presentation, flavors, and concepts. This one fell a bit short.

Meal was average - you're definitely overpaying for small portions, but given its a Michelin star restaurant, it is what it is. Honestly no real qualms other than the fact that the restaurant was blasting metal Beck music. Please change your playlist - I will not come back.

Biggest let down ever!!! 2 Michelin star , but everything was a huge disappointment, from the wine to the food!! The duck was perhaps the only dish worthy of note. The 45 days aged beef paired cheese souffle did not paired well, don't get me started on the scallops...it was drawned in some kimchi essence, over powered by the shiitake mushrooms, salt and sour!! The raw fish was something random - like a fish salad in mayo with small bits of flying fish roe, the king fish carpaccio is ordinary. Not sure if Michelin star provides a good guide to great food as Kochi with one Michelin star more than justified!!

The food was fine, but nothing more… To be honest, I expected a lot more from a two star michelin restaurant. Everything was good and fine, but nothing you haven’t tried before. After each dish, you have a feeling of “the next one will impress”, and you never got to a point where you had the feeling of something exciting. The service was good, and all the staff were nice, but i would expect the food to be a lot more exciting. I don’t think the food is worth the money, at all. And I’ve had a better experience in NYC for half the money elsewhere. I would not recommend a trip here..

It is a joke. Cold fried chicken. I expected something interestingly special from this two starred Michelin restaurant given the title of the dish obviously bad and did not make sense. Without any surprise, the cold fried chicken has nothing special. Worse than any of my home chicken left overnight in fridge after cooking. Scallop not fresh and slimy. Bad texture. Bad combination with yolk sauce. Lobster tempura rice is acceptable, not amazing, no surprise. But the rice is nice. In summary the best is the rice. Nothing else. Same as other high end trendy looking restaurants, wines are all not known, cheap at cost but prices with multiple x3-4 times margin at least. Definitely will it come back. Save your money to other much much better restaurant such as wildair nearby

We had dinner at the bar section, and it was just wonderful. The main restaurant does a tasting menu, while at the bar they have a hand written a la carte menu that changes every day. The menu is not that big, but plenty of fantastic dishes to choose from. The famous Ko egg was great, and we also really enjoyed the mini burger, hake rice and a lamb dish. When the sommelier figured out we know our wines, she brought us immediately the full wine list from the main restaurant, took a lot of time to walk us through some of the options, and we ended up with a fantastic rare bottle from 1976. We can't wait to go back here.

Beautiful space, outrageously great food, superb service with attention to every detail. If you don’t do the pairings, you are missing out. Each wine highlights the course and brings to the forefront some characteristics you you might otherwise not notice. Special thanks the Nikita and team for unusual wines you might not otherwise get a chance to experience!
