The Plaza New York Reviews from The Last Year
See you again
Beautiful. Good atmosphere. Nice staff. Good location" The location is perfect and the Plaza actually looks like it does in all the movies. The rooms were furnished with beautiful chandeliers and a piano. There is also a subway station right next to the hotel.
Afternoon tea when you have severe food allergies
Magnificent afternoon tea experience! I have Celiac Disease and my daughter has a severe (life threatening) milk allergy. The restaurant staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Both the chef and manager came out to let us know exactly the substitute ingredients they used and everything on the beautiful tea tray was delicious.
Tea at Palm Court
My husband and I went to Tea at Palm Court for my birthday. It was beautiful and delicious! Shalim was so welcoming and kind. He made our experience feel very special. He was very attentive and met all of our needs and provided great suggestions.
Tea at the Plaza- thank you Shalim and Kevin!
We went to Tea in the Palm Court at the Plaza with my nieces under 5 and my parents for the Eloise Tea at the Plaza. All of the staff were so lovely, warm, and professional. The service was exceptional. Special shout out to our server Shalim and the doorman Kevin who went above and beyond to make our time at the Plaza a very sweet and memorable. They’re MVPs
Sumptuous Afternoon Tea
We had a wonderful, luxurious experience and were very well taken care of by our server, Mr. Shalim Khan. We especially appreciated that they offer a gluten free tea menu with a pretty nice variety. The ju kro tea is worth it!
Plaza high tea
Kabir is the best person ever & he made our high tea so special! I highly recommend this place because if him. Best experience of our lives Love his jacket and his smile
Tea time!
Tea at The Palm Court was fantastic and the service was superb, thanks to Kabir and the entire staff! An unforgettable experience.
Best Concierge Ever
The Plaza was just as lovely as expected and the service there was second to none. My husband left his phone in the cab on the way there and the concierge arranged to get it back. He handled the whole thing. Room service was excellent too, and the room and bathroom were both spacious and beautiful.
"Never meet your heroes", they say.
The basis of course is people and things rarely live up to the hype. The Plaza does. Kevin McAllister was right to hold up here over Christmas. The location itself is perfectly situated in both the heart of New York (Central Park) and businesses, big and small, within arm's reach. The building itself could have gone to the way of ancient ruins and lived on the memories of what was and not what is. Instead, the building itself has been immaculately preserved and, in our case, remodeled with a nod to its original glory. What is all this glory without service. There is no slippage there either. We got a sense of the bespoke experience before our trip, dealing with customer service by phone. From that point forward, we have been met with a constant expressions of attention to detail and service. I still don't know what our butler does but should the need ever arise, I know he's a push of a button away. I don't know if I could stay anywhere else in the city ever again.

Recently stayed here on a guys' weekend NYC getaway because a friend insisted on "only the best". The room was opulent and the food was incredible. And none of that matters because literally every person who works in this place is rude as hell. Seriously, if you're not famous, or famously wealthy, don't bother. I'm not one of those weirdo boomers who demands "service with a smile" because I know how bad service jobs can be, but I had to take a minute to hype myself up for EVERY interaction with the staff, no matter how simple, because I knew it'd be a struggle. It doesn't matter if you're calling the front desk to ask the restaurant hours, or if you're asking security where the elevators are. Literally every single employee has their nose turned up at you and acts like they've got more important things to do than answer your questions. If The Plaza staff is this adverse to helping guests, there's no telling what corners everyone's cutting behind the scenes. Cannot recommend.

Hands down the most legendary hotel in all of New York! The Plaza is the famous hotel that Kevin McAllister stayed in the movie "Home Alone 2", it's also the hotel that the book and movie "Eloise at The Plaza" is based off of. There's an iconic scene in the 1973 movie "The Way We Were" starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford that takes place in from of The Plaza where she brushes his hair and says, "Your girl is lovely Hubbell". It was reenacted in the TV series "Sex and the City" where Carrie Bradshaw and Big have a similar encounter in front of the hotel. It's also in the 2009 movie "Bride Wars" with Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Let's just say I'm a movie and TV buff! Anything that's featured on the big screen, I want to visit! I made it my goal during my trip to NY to stay here at the hotel. It cost me $1,300 a night (Yup! you read that right!), I stayed for a couple of days during New Year's. The hotel is pretty, but honestly the interior was a bit underwhelming. I was expecting a grand lobby, but it was a bit ordinary. My room however was gorgeous, I had a terrace room which had its own private patio. I loved the luxurious bathroom and tub. The mattress itself was a bit stiff, I would have thought they would have invested in a nicer mattress for their hotel. The room came with butler service, they'll set out your slippers for you and even have a laundry tray set out at the end of the night. Overall, I did enjoy the room. The Plaza is conveniently located on Fifth Avenue near all the high-end shopping, and it faces Central Park. The only thing I didn't enjoy about The Plaza was the service I received after my stay. It was insane trying to get ahold of someone to get an invoice, whenever I called they re-routed me multiple times to different departments and I was even hung up on. When they finally did email me the invoice it was done in a rude manner. I think there's a glitch or something in their system since I've been routinely receiving other guests' invoices too. I guess beware about your personal information being sent to others.
Went for Palm Sunday high tea.
$150/pp $54 tip & then tax. Wouldn't have minded so much if there has been " service". Our waiter greeted us and took our tea order. Staff then plopped a beautiful filled tray on our table... no explanation or formality. Delivered it as if they were delivering an extra napkin. Items were good, but predominantly sweet. The scones were chocolate and chive cheese... not sure what they wanted us to do with the clotted cream, fruit preserves or lemon curd- put them on the savory or chocolate scone? Felt like it wasn't well thought out. " attentive service would have warranted that hefty a tip. No more US high teas for me.. passing a few here will pay for my flight to UK where they know how to do a proper " tea".

I reserved a room for a special occasion during outbreak of Covid. I put down a $2000 deposit. The hotel closed for a year and I could not stay at hotel. I did not feel comfortable staying after it opened as there was still a high Covid incidence, civil unrest and a skyrocketing crime rate in NYC. When I recently went to book a room the hotel refused to allow me to use the deposit stating it had "expired." How does money that didnt cost the hotel a dime expire? The Plaza rooms are currently $1000 per night. All I was asking for was a 2 night stay for the $2000 they took from me. Ill let you decide but I certainly cannot recommend a hotel that takes my hard earned money for nothing. Remember they opted to close and canceled my reservation. The staff took my case all the way to the Director of Finance of the Plaza who refused to help. Shame on you Plaza Hotel!

We were not guests at the hotel but thought we might be able to come in for breakfast. The staff was lovely and able to accommodate. The restaurant was beautiful, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. We ordered a simple eggs benedict and it was terrible. I'm giving the review a three star because of the location and the beauty of the dining room and hotel. One star for the food. I was there a few years ago for Christmas and had cocktails and that was worth it.
Beautiful iconic hotel.
Enjoyed high noon tea and crumpets with my love. The waitstaff was delightful especially Elvis. Excellent variety of teas and small bites, a bit pricey but well worth it. They also serve mock-tails for my sober folx. Overall experience was excellent. We appreciate the hospitality, good conversation and the overall ambiance.

For our anniversary, we decided to splurge on a stay at The Plaza. Elegant, ornate, and familiar due to watching Home Alone as a kid. The hotel stands on its own without the Home Alone connection. However, to make the most of our stay, we decided to get room service a la Kevin. We ordered some lobster rolls and the legendary Home Alone ice cream sundae. The lobster rolls were out of this world! The ice cream was just okay. The experience was lovely. For the price, I was expecting a higher quality ice cream. The toppings were great - especially the raspberry sauce. Did we finish the ice cream? Obviously not - it's 16 scoops of ice cream with whipped cream, maraschino cherries, M&Ms, brownie bits, chocolate, caramel, and raspberry sauce. Who can finish that? The Home Alone sundae is a part of the room service menu, so we didn't need to reserve it in advance. I don't think I would get the ice cream sundae again, but we would get the lobster rolls for sure! Overall service at the hotel was outstanding. The hotel was beautiful. The location was convenient.
To say our stay was lackluster would be a polite way to say
To say our stay was lackluster would be a polite way to say it. Everything was a complete disappointment, from the lack of good and knowledgeable staff to an uncaring attitude. Let me just start at the beginning. Upon check in I asked if there was an ATM in the hotel and we were told YES there was, but it was located in the spa which was closed. Since I was going to the spa in the morning, I was content to wait. Upon my arrival in the spa, no ATM. An encounter with a bellman in the elevator confirmed there was no ATM in the hotel. That same morning my Fiancé went to the front desk to request a newspaper and was told there were not any and they must be requested in advance. Understandable so he did just that for the following morning. The next morning we leave for a quick walk to grab a coffee, no newspaper. Stop at the front desk to inquire, and we are told his request from the day before was not properly entered into the system. I was not pleased and chose to walk away and return to the room to get ready for the day. Now let me start on the room. Our hot water was almost non existent in the bathtub, bathroom sink and shower. The climate control in the room did not work and it was like a sauna in there. The bed and pillows were hard as rocks and quite frankly the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in at a 5 star hotel. It has been 7 years since I had the pleasure to stay at the Plaza and I can tell you it is no the same. I have never stayed anywhere else in the city and I will never return after this stay. There are way too many options in this amazing city to spend a fortune on bad service, rooms that have zero comfort and offer much to be desired. My only compliment goes to Maria at the spa, who gave me one of the best massages I have ever had.
The place to Stay
Had a great time, this place was perfect

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
